La arquitectura y el diseño de las sucesivas capitales dan testimonio de un alto nivel de orden social y clasificación dentro del Imperio Jemer. Por lo tanto, Angkor es un sitio importante que ejemplifica valores culturales, religiosos y simbólicos, además de contener una gran importancia arquitectónica, arqueológica y artística.
Angkor Thom, literalmente: "Gran Ciudad", contiene varios de los templos y sitios antiguos que hay que ver, incluido el Templo Bayon, la Terraza de los Elefantes, la Terraza del Rey Leproso, el Templo Baphoun y muchos más. Es una visita obligada en un viaje a Siem Reap y sus templos antiguos.
La característica más distintiva del Bayón es la multitud de rostros de piedra serenos y sonrientes de Buda, probablemente inspirados en el rostro del rey Jayavarman VII, a cada lado de las numerosas torres que sobresalen de la terraza superior y se agrupan alrededor de su pico central.

El templo Ta Nei es un templo muy pequeño y poco visitado. La falta de otros visitantes es una de las muchas razones por las que deberías visitar este increíble templo.
Construido a partir de 1186 y originalmente conocido como Rajavihara (Monasterio del Rey), Ta Prohm era un templo budista dedicado a la madre de Jayavarman VII. Es uno de los pocos templos de la región de Angkor donde una inscripción proporciona información sobre los dependientes y habitantes del templo.
Banteay Kdei, un enorme monasterio budista de finales del siglo XII, está rodeado por cuatro muros concéntricos. Cada una de sus cuatro entradas está decorada con garudas, que sostienen en alto uno de los temas favoritos de Jayavarman VII: las cuatro caras de Avalokiteshvara.
El templo Prasat Kravan es un templo hindú del siglo X dedicado a VIshnu. Es un templo relativamente pequeño en comparación con otros templos del parque.

Good trip, but could be better described that the guide was not with into the temple, so had to hire a new guide inside. Would have been cheaper to rent tuktuk from the hotel

Soppal and Titiya were great guys and took us where we wanted to go. The temples close at 6pm beware of that! But after 5:40 is free Make sure you cover knees and shoulders or you can’t go in

Great tuktuk transportation through Angkor Wat. Sophal was very well prepared with towels and lots of water. He recommended a tour guide for $60 but I opted to do my own self paced tour with an audio guide and had an amazing time. Definitely need to book transportation between temples as it is quite a walk between them. Highly recommend this one as it was very accommodating, didn’t rush me and let me take it at my own pace which I really appreciated.
