Itinerario

Viator This company is a SCAM and lied and stole our money!!! I agreed to $680.00 for a private tour of Mt. Rainier National Park with park entry fees, breakfast stop and a list of different stops through the park. 2 months before the trip they agreed to a 5am pick up in Seattle. The day before the trip, they charged my card $980.00 instead of $680.00 AND told us we would not be picked up until 6:30 am and also they did not register for timed entry stamp at Sunrise entry. I ended up on the phone with the owner of the company who told me they would take us to Paradise entry because no timed entry was needed. The driver smelled bad and talked non stop. He did not know or mention where to stop for bathroom or the scheduled breakfast stop and did not realize it until we mentioned that he had driven past the last bathroom before the Park. (we ended up having to emergency stop on the side of the road to go to the bathroom) He drove us to the edge of the park, then lost signal to his GPS an proceeded to try to drive into the Sunrise entrance without a timed entry. I told him we would be turned away so on a 2 lane switch back with steep drop off decided that was the place to make a 3 point turn and almost knock us off the mountain. I then had the only cell service to direct him on where to go. He admitted he had never been to Mt Rainier and was "just a driver" and thought getting us to the outskirts of the park was all he needed to do. He proceeded to turn away from the park and start driving west until I demanded he stop and turn around and follow my directions. He insisted all the tour promised was taking us to the Park and he had done that. He kept showing me a screen shot of the itinerary. I asked him if he knew where any of these places on the itinerary are and he admitted no. I made him turn around and drive toward Paradise entrance. He was mad and driving 55mph on 35 mph mountain roads. I asked him to PLEASE follow the posted speed signs. Once we got to the Paradise entrance he was surprised he had to pay to get in. (That was included in the tour) He paid, dropped us off at the visitor center and proceeded to park in the handicap spot saying he would just wait there while we hiked. He was yelled at by rangers to move, so he would just circle around and park in a different handicap spot. For the ride home after hiking he stopped for us to get food after I demanded he stop at a restaurant outside of the park. We had to buy him lunch. Then for the next 2.5 hours home he talked non stop and smelled SO bad. Image I attached is what most of my photos look like because they were out the window while he drove WAY too fast and did not know where to stop for good photos or hikes or experiences.
What we requested was not what we received. Don’t expect any personal experience with this company nor from Barbil Tours. We specifically asked for a guide to take us hiking. Instead we got a person with bad knees who could barely walk, had very little knowledge of the park and suggested we talk to park ranger for guidance. Let’s not forget the inappropriate comments the “guide” made and how uncomfortable he made us. Beware!!! Rip off!!!
Hi Traveller, Thank you for sharing your disappointing experience with Barbil Tours. We apologize for not meeting your expectations and for any discomfort caused by our guide. We'll take your feedback seriously and investigate the issues you mentioned, including the guide's ability to lead hikes and their behavior. We'll work to improve our services and ensure that our guides are knowledgeable and respectful. Sorry again for not providing the experience you were looking for. Regards, Khitish(BarbilTours)
Bob was in communication the day prior to our tour. I requested an earlier pick up and he came through. The weather was not good on our tour. It was rainy and you couldn't see the mountain at all which was disappointing but you can't control the weather.
We're glad to hear that Bob was communicative and flexible with the pickup time, accommodating your request. Sorry to hear the weather didn't cooperate, and the rain obscured the mountain views. While we can't control the weather, we appreciate your understanding. Hope to welcome you on a clearer day soon! Best Regards, Khitish(Barbil Tours)
This is a Great, one day trip to the mountain and back. Dwight was very informative and knew all the great vistas and scenic spots to visit. Dwight is the is the guide everyone needs to travel with, he's like a very knowlegable friend.
Dwight was very knowledgeable about Mt Rainier and about Seattle. He made sure that we got to see the high points of interest in Mt Rainier national park. The company accommodated our unusual pick up and drop off without a fuss. I would enjoy going on another trip to Mt Rainier with them again.
The tour started rough with confusion about times and reservations, but the company, and our tour guide, Dwight, worked everything out, and we had a fabulous day. The weather wasn’t great, but our guide provided good information and made some great stops.
Perfect Private Tour of a Fantastic Location! Very flexible, knowledgeable and patient Tour Guide! Fabulous Day :)
The tour guide was awesome and I’d give him 5 stars. Super guy and very friendly to my wife and I during the trip. He was also very knowledgeable about the mountain. The description of this tour made it seem that we’d be going hiking and would need a guide to navigate the trails. I signed up for a guide and paid the $700 fee thinking it would ensure my wife’s and my safety navigating trails we weren’t familiar with. Not the case. There was no hiking. We literally just drove to the top of the mountain, walked around in the snow a little (not far without snow shoes btw), took some pictures and drove back to Seattle. It was a gorgeous view and again, the tour guide was super friendly. However, the fee of this trip should be adjusted for the experience. You can’t charge people $700 ($350 per person) just to drive them to the top of a mountain and back. Also, apparently you could rent snow shoes at the inn at the base of the mountain. This “tour” company could have at least provided that for us so we could walk around some in the snow. We just got put at the top of the mountain and were off on our way. The company could have informed us of the fact that there would be no hiking and adjust the price appropriately. I had a rental car for this trip and if I’d known better, I would have just driven myself. If you’re planning on using this or another company, figure out exactly what you’ll be doing that day and see if you can negotiate the fee down if it’s just them driving you up the mountain.
Thanks for the feedback- Hiking depends on the weather and is recommended only when the trail is snow free- most of the hiking activities does not happen in winter -we are working on your suggestion to provide the snow shoes during winter to hike trails that can be done using snow shoes
