El Gran Palacio fue construido junto con la fundación de Bangkok en 1782 cuando el rey Rama 1 ascendió al trono y fundó una nueva dinastía. El Gran Palacio es muy importante ya que solía ser el paladio del estado. Fue utilizado tanto para la residencia real como para el centro administrativo del país en el sistema de gobierno de monarquía absoluta. Hoy en día, el palacio se utiliza solo para ceremonias. La planta arquitectónica de este palacio era casi idéntica en cada detalle al Gran Palacio de la antigua capital de Ayutthaya (hace unos 600 años) porque el Rey quería recrear la gloria de la ciudad como lo era en el pasado. Así que fue completamente construido por primera vez en estilo tradicional tailandés. Sin embargo, en varios períodos, las influencias de otras naciones afectan a la arquitectura en Tailandia en diferentes reinados como los elementos chinos introducidos por el rey Rama 3 a principios del siglo XIX y el estilo de construcción occidental introducido por el rey Rama 5 a finales del siglo XIX.

Poppy was the best tour guide! We had a fantastic time, saw all the sights and learned so much. The driver was always ready to pick us up and we were so grateful for the cool towelettes when we got back into the car! Also, Poppy recommended the yummiest lunch spot. Thank you for a wonderful tour!
We had such an incredible experience with Belle (and Peter, our driver)!! Her energy and excitement made our day so great from the first moment. She is so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions about the architecture and history of the city with so much enthusiasm. I also have a gluten allergy and she took the time to call ahead to a restaurant to ensure I could eat there safely. I cannot say enough positive things about her and this whole experience. I’m big on photography, and Pally was the perfect guide for this. She didn't rush us at all; she let us take our time at Wat Arun to catch the light perfectly. Her knowledge of the temples is deep, but she explains it in a very easy-going way. The whole tour felt very personal, and the pick-up/drop-off service from our hotel made it completely worry-free. Pally’s passion for her city really shines through, and it made the whole experience so much more enjoyable.
Poppy was such a kind and caring guide throughout the day. Poppy always checked if we needed water or wanted a short break to rest, making everything completely easy for us. The Grand Palace was stunning and The Temple of the Reclining Buddha was huge in real life. Also loved the unique design of the Temple of Dawn. Would definitely book another tour with Poppy!
The tour was just right especially for my senior parents. Angie, our tour guide was really great! Excellent service, very accommodating, considering her recovering from her injury, she has been a great guide. Loved how she has taken care of us the whole time. Great experience especially that it was my parents first time in Bangkok.
We had an amazing time visiting the Grand Palace with our guide, Da. The palace is absolutely beautiful everywhere you look there is gold and such incredible detail. It’s definitely a must-see in Bangkok! Da was a fantastic guide. She was so friendly and knew all the best spots to walk so we could see everything clearly. She also helped us take some great photos together. After the palace, we visited Wat Pho and Wat Arun, which were also very impressive. Da looked after us so well the whole day and always had cold water ready for us, which was so nice in the heat. If you're looking for a great guide who is kind and knows the palace well, definitely ask for Da! We really enjoyed our day.
