Itinerario

Amazing. Eunice was our guide. Free walking tour of China Town Singapore. What an experience. The information, history, walk, food exceptional. Three and a half hours and we could have walked and listened longer. Eunice guided us through temples, governemt buildings, historical sites, painted avenues and food halls. We were lucky to be in a small group which gave us more opportunity to ask questions and may be see more. Crowds were more than manageable. At completion, Eunice gave us direction for local transport, more sites to see in our own time and then walked us back to our hotel. Highly recommend the tour and if you are lucky, you will have Eunice as a guide.
Many thanks for your enthusiastic recommendation of our Chinatown free walking tour, Deion! Chinatown is such a large and varied neighbourhood that it’s impossible to cover it all in one tour, but I’m really glad you and Gary enjoyed our attempt to bring out as many aspects of day-to-day Singaporean life as possible. Thanks for being game to see more, eat more and walk more, including going along with me to check out the almost fully air-conditioned/sheltered “secret” route from Telok Ayer back to Furama City Centre after our tour!
Singapore is a relatively young country with a fairly short history. Yet, since its founding, it has drawn fortune-seekers hoping to share in the fruits of a thriving (port) economy. Far from all of them lived in luxury, but thanks in part to their hard work, Singapore grew steadily more prosperous and built its reputation as a metropolis. People of different origins (China, Malaysia, India, and others) were housed by the British in so-called quarters. These quarters soon proved too small and had to expand — and besides, people don't always stay where they're put, so mixed communities emerged as well. All of this shaped the Singapore we know today. On the just-over-5-hour walk through Chinatown, Kampong Glam, and Little India, Eunice took us on a journey through time across the fascinating history of this small country. Several threads ran through the tour: alongside history and urban planning, we got to take in contemporary artworks, and of course sample the delicious food that the national (or fusion) cuisine has to offer. Eunice's enthusiasm and the rich variety of the tour made the time fly by as we eagerly soaked up every impression. In a very short time, we came away with a much fuller picture of this country. Highly recommended.
Thanks so much for your endorsement, Stijn! It was a pleasure sharing Singapore's history, old neighbourhoods, art and food with you and your family. Your curiosity and enthusiasm made the day just as enjoyable for me, and I’m truly glad that you felt like you went away with a fuller understanding of Singapore. Hopefully you also collected more ideas for future explorations here and we see you all back this way again in the future! - Eunice
Absolutely loved this walking tour. Cheyenne was an amazing guide and a wonderful ambassador for Singapore. We learnt so much...! Highly recommend
Hey there Thank you for coming on the Chinatown free walking tour. I had loads of fun with our group that day. Shoutout to you for enjoying my bad jokes along the way 😅 Have a great rest of your holiday. The team from Indie Singapore and i will be happy to host you whenever you are back in Singapore Best Cheyenne
Amazing experience. The tour guide Eunice was truly amazing, the best tour guide ive ever had. Shes funny and kind and her knowledge about singapore is really impressive. But she presents the knowledge in a fun and unique way, I didnt feel like I was walking around the city with a tour guide I felt like I was walking around the city with a freind. We discovered so much about singapore in just one day that I couldn’t beileve. If I ever return to singapore I would think twice about booking this tour once again even though I already experienced it. I really recommend Eunice if your ever in singapore and want to experience it to the fullest extent.
Thanks so much for your very kind words, Domen! You and your family were so warm and friendly right from the start, it made our 7-hour private tour fly by. It was a pleasure being able to show you around our major downtown areas — Marina Bay and our Civic District, Chinatown, Kampong Glam and Little India — but also go just a bit further eastwards to explore the charming Katong/Joo Chiat neighbourhood where my mum grew up. All of you were so game to walk more (even your brother while on crutches?!), experience our public transport system, try foods different from what you’re used to, discover local temples, and indulge my suggestions for silly photos! It was really a fun day out for me and I’m truly glad you enjoyed it too. Hopefully this trip inspires more visits back to Singapore in the future, but in the meantime, have a wonderful summer! - Eunice
We had a fantastic time on this Chinatown walking tour with our guide Cheyenne. Even though it was a hot day, she planned plenty of AC stops and breaks, which made it totally manageable. What really stood out was the personal touch — she learned everyone's names from the start and used them throughout the whole tour, which made it feel warm and personal rather than a generic group experience. Her knowledge was impressive too, from the stories behind the street murals to genuine local insights you just don't get from a guidebook. She answered every question with enthusiasm and warmth. And then, above and beyond — that evening she sent a detailed email recapping all the places we'd visited, with links to the topics we'd covered. It was clearly put together specifically for our group, not a standard template. That kind of extra effort is rare and so appreciated. Highly recommend, and ask for Cheyenne if you can!
Hi Irina and Dmetry! Thank you for coming on the Chinatown Walk with me. I enjoyed taking our small group around yesterday, learning more about Singapore. I’m especially appreciative of all the questions and side conversations we’ve had a lot the way. It’s always great to make new friends while on holiday. I hope you had a good rest of your day yesterday and may the rest of your time in Singapore be fun and filled with good weather! Best Cheyenne
We had an amazing experience with Indie Singapore, and our guide Su was truly fantastic. Travelling with our 5-month-old baby, Xavier, in Singapore’s hot weather could have been very challenging, but Su made everything so smooth, comfortable, and enjoyable for us. She was not only very knowledgeable and clear in explaining every place we visited, but also extremely kind, patient, and caring throughout the tour. The best part of the experience was how much attention she gave to our baby and our comfort. She always checked on us, helped us plan breaks, guided us to baby-friendly and air-conditioned spots, and made sure we could enjoy the tour without feeling rushed. It honestly felt less like a guided tour and more like exploring Singapore with a good friend. We visited beautiful places like the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands SkyPark, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Zoo, Jewel, Universal Studios, and S.E.A. Aquarium. Su shared interesting stories, local tips, fun facts, and even introduced us to local snacks and drinks, which made the experience even more special. Kelvin, our driver, was also very kind and helpful, and made our travel around Singapore easy and comfortable. This was our baby’s first big overseas trip, and thanks to Su and Indie Singapore, it became a very memorable one for our family. We highly recommend Indie Singapore, especially for families travelling with young children. Su is an excellent guide with a warm heart, and we are truly grateful for everything she did for us.
Dear Nabyh, Rau, and little Xavier, Thanks so much for the kind words! Reading this brought back such wonderful memories of our three days together. As I mentioned when we first met, realizing that my own daughter is exactly one day older than Xavier made this experience feel less like work and entirely like hosting close friends. Navigating our tropical climate with a five-month-old infant is a daunting prospect for any parent. This is exactly why we advocate so strongly for our bespoke "High-Impact, Low-Fatigue" approach for families. I am thrilled that our strategic pacing, combined with Kelvin’s smooth driving in the Mercedes Viano, allowed your family to explore iconic sites like Marina Bay Sands and the Merlion without ever feeling rushed or overheated. Whether it was mapping out the best air-conditioned nursing rooms at Jewel Changi and Gardens by the Bay, or sharing some of my favorite local curry puffs while Xavier napped peacefully at the S.E.A. Aquarium, my primary goal was to ensure you and Rau could genuinely relax and enjoy your holiday. Thank you for trusting Indie Singapore with Xavier’s very first overseas adventure. Watching him take in the sights was a joy. Please give him a big hug from his Singaporean 'auntie,' and we truly hope to welcome your beautiful family back when he is old enough to walk these streets himself! Warmly, Su
There was three of us all different ages neeeding and wanting diffeeent things from the experience and we all got what we were looking for plus a millions times more Our tour guide Jacqueline was wonderful and we wouldn’t of wanted anyone else to show us around and pass on the history while I myself have loved learning and also so much we all didn’t no We thank you so so much for speaking your time wit us
I'm glad all of you enjoyed the tour! Singapore has lots to offer no matter your age. Hope you enjoy the rest of your time here and stay cool in our heat :) - Jac
Let me start with this review with, we cannot recommend highly enough this tour with Wei or one of his great story tellers at Indie Singapore Tours. The tour was recommended to us and we want to share the love and shine some light on a hidden gem of Singapore. Indie Singapore Tours. The tour combined the social ecosystem of Geylang with a wonderful food experience. When booking the tour, we were asked and we were able to choose what level of adventure for the food we wanted to experience. It truly meant that we had the experience tailored to our level of gastronomical comfort. Wei was fantastic in explaining different aspects of Geylang to us and in showing us the contradictions that exist in the area, learning about the land laws, seeing Coffin Nail houses, and experiencing how so many cultures come together to create such a vibrant area. It was great to see a side of Singapore that is so real. The food experience along the way, including us trying Durian Fruit, was great and the evening culminated with a fabulous meal. Everything was organised on our behalf and all we had to do was follow and listen. It was a fabulous way to experience a different and fascinating side of Singapore.
Vicky, thank you. There is a specific kind of magic that happens in Geylang after dark. It is the antidote to the polished, postcard version of the city—gritty, uncompromising, and pulsing with real life. When Alaina reached out to design the evening for you, we knew we had to deliver something distinct. She is one of the most intuitive travel planners we collaborate with in this industry. Her understanding of what her clients truly want allows us to curate these experiences with absolute precision, and she knew this specific narrative would resonate with you. We designed our Geylang night food and heritage walks because to genuinely understand Singapore, one must look beyond the gleaming skyline. Discussing the complex urban land laws, observing the stubborn resilience of the 'nail houses' against modernization, and unpacking the intricate social ecosystem of the district is how we preserve the unfiltered history of our island. Gastronomy is deeply personal. I am glad we could dial the culinary adventure exactly to your comfort level, ensuring the focus remained on discovery rather than endurance—though embracing the durian certainly earns you a permanent badge of honor in our books. It was a privilege to navigate the beautiful contradictions of Geylang with you both. Wei Chief Storyteller, Indie Singapore Tours
A fantastic 3.5-hour walking tour with Eunice! As a recent arrival to Singapore, this was an incredibly enriching way to understand the local history, politics, and cultural mindset. Eunice’s personal stories and anecdotes about Singapore’s ongoing evolution made the experience truly special and engaging from start to finish
Many thanks for the kind review, Shubhankar! Our Singapore River free walking tour aims to flesh out those very aspects you highlighted — local history, politics and cultural mindset — because what better way to do that than by visiting inside the historic buildings of our Civic District where momentous events took place? It’s always great too when we have participants like you who can compare your experiences living in other Commonwealth countries and complement our conversations with your perspectives. It was a privilege to be part of your first week ever in Singapore, and hopefully our team gets to show you more sides to this island as you settle into life here! - Eunice
April 10 Friday We had Wie as a guide for the tour. He was excellent, passionate about the history and explained a lot of history. Being Chinese and from Vancouver, Canada, I can relate to all of the history in Singapore as happened in Canada.
Hi Tony! It was a pleasure meeting you and the family on the final leg of your journey through Southeast Asia. Moving from the raw energy of Vietnam to the structured narrative of Singapore often requires a cultural bridge to make sense of the transition, and I am glad I could provide that context for you. Your observation about the parallels between the Chinese-Canadian experience in Vancouver and our own history here in Singapore is profound. Whether it is Smith Street or Pagoda Street, the story of the Chinese diaspora—the Nanyang narrative—is a universal one of grit, sacrifice, and the search for a new identity in a foreign land. Recognizing those echoes across the Pacific is exactly why we prioritize storytelling over mere sightseeing; it proves that our heritage is not just local history, but a global chapter of the migrant journey. I hope you and your family managed to catch both the Spectra light show at Marina Bay Sands and the Garden Rhapsody at the Supertrees. They offer a stark, modern contrast to the grit and history we discussed in Chinatown—a perfect visual bookend to the evolution of this city-state. Safe travels back to Vancouver. It was an honor to help your family find a bit of "home" here in Singapore. Warmest! Wei Chief Storyteller, Indie Singapore Tours
