This was a wonderful experience. We learned so much about Sicilian cooking and traditions while. We can’t wait to try our new recipes at home. Alice and Francesco are lovely hosts and made this day so special. Highly recommend!!!
I had so much fun picking out food at the lively Capo market with hospitable chef hosts, Alice and Francesco! After discussing options for lunch, Alice expertly picked out beautiful tuna for our appetizer and swordfish for our main course. We had a fantastic time choosing fresh artichokes, tomatoes, onions, shallots. Alice also picked out fresh, crusty and warm wood oven baked Semolina bread We had an excellent time cooking dinner together, giving excellent instruction. I appreciated Alice and Francesco warm and welcoming nature. We had wonderful conversation about food and life. They were both very knowledgeable about food and cooking regional specialties. I felt very much at home and was happy to practice making Cavitelli and Orchietti ( my son’s favorite) pasta. We also made a wonderful and simple ricotta and almond based frozen dessert, I appreciated sharing the fruits of our labor for lunch. I also look forward to making these recipes that I received from Alice and Francesco for my friends and family at home. Time very well spent and enjoyed! Gratzia Mille!
We had a fabulous experience! Alice and Francesco were so easy to learn from and spend our time with! I highly recommend anyone looking to experience Sicily’s authenticity do this! It was literally my favorite experience in Palermo! We would do it again in a heartbeat!
So we booked this weeks in advance. Went to the meeting spot at 10am as instructed, and no one showed up. Not sure if this was the fault of trip advisor or the cooking class operator, but not a good experience. Our tickets were regunded
This was a fantastic way to spend a day in Palermo. Alice and Francesco were above and beyond wonderful throughout the entire experience. The small group setting made the market tour easier to navigate. It was both fun and informative, and we thoroughly enjoyed cooking with the ingredients we purchased. Each course was thoughtfully planned, and we had a blast learning about the history of the dishes and the culture surrounding the food. We can't wait to come back!
Alice and Francesco are great! Their passion for Sicilian cuisine was felt throughout their class. They walked us through the outdoor market and educated us on the history of produce and seafood. It was so interesting hearing about how they grew zucchini and the stories of the fishermen trying so sell shark as swordfish. A few days before the class Alice reached out to us asking about any food allergies. This was very thoughtful and she made sure I could eat what we made. Our menu was POLPETTE DI PESCE IN AGRODOLCE Traditional Sicilian fish balls in sweet-and- sour onion sauce PASTA CON PESTO DI ZUCCHINE E POMODORI SECCHI Traditional fresh semolina pasta with Sicilian zucchini pesto and sundried tomatoes GELO DI CIOCCOLATO DI MODICA Traditional Modica chocolate pudding Everything was delicious! My favorite was making the pasta! It was my first time and it gave me such an appreciation for it. Hand made pasta is such an art! The others in the class were just as enthusiastic about making food which made it so much fun. We all had a wonderful time! Alice and Francesco were very attentive to each of us. All and all, time well spent and we will remember this experience forever.
Alice and Francesco are brilliant. Their obvious pleasure in the food and culture of Sicily is contagious. We strolled through the market being shown some of the unique products of the island, and warned of the cheap imports. Then we cooked our own 3 course meal, which despite our inexperience was delicious and felt truly authentic. They are also great hosts. We left feeling sorry we would not see them again.
