Itinerario
En esta parada, los viajeros visitarán la impresionante Laguna Chaxa, ubicada dentro del Salar de Atacama y parte de la Reserva Nacional Los Flamencos (sector Soncor). El guía acreditado los acompañará en un recorrido por los senderos habilitados, donde podrán observar de cerca flamencos andinos, chilenos y de James, además de otras aves altiplánicas en su hábitat natural. Aprenderán sobre la ecología del salar, la formación de las salinas y la importancia de esta laguna para la conservación de la fauna local. También tendrán tiempo para tomar fotografías del paisaje único, con la Cordillera de los Andes como telón de fondo.
En esta parada, los viajeros disfrutarán de una caminata guiada por el mirador de Piedras Rojas, también conocido como Aguas Calientes III, una maravilla natural caracterizada por sus formaciones rocosas de intenso color rojizo, producto del hierro oxidado, contrastando con las aguas turquesas de la laguna. El guía explicará la formación geológica del lugar, así como la biodiversidad altiplánica que habita la zona. Aquí los visitantes podrán tomar fotografías únicas del paisaje, uno de los más impresionantes del altiplano chileno.
Durante esta parada, los viajeros explorarán las majestuosas Lagunas Miscanti y Miñiques, ubicadas a más de 4.000 metros sobre el nivel del mar, en pleno altiplano andino. El guía los conducirá por el sendero panorámico desde donde podrán apreciar estas lagunas de color azul profundo, rodeadas por los volcanes que les dan nombre. Aquí se hablará sobre la formación volcánica del paisaje, la flora y fauna nativa como vizcachas y taguas, y la importancia de esta zona como parte de la Reserva Nacional Los Flamencos. El lugar es ideal para capturar fotografías y experimentar la tranquilidad del altiplano.

It was excellent, very good breakfast and lunch (noting that it was at a restaurant), the guide was exceptional in his knowledge, charisma, and approachability, very kind to my 81-year-old grandmother who went on this tour to celebrate her birthday, where he was attentive to her at all times. Furthermore, as a professional in the scientific-environmental field, the way he explains the various biomes is very accurate and he handles everything with depth. I thank the main guide and the support guide as well for taking excellent photos of us voluntarily and the driver for letting us observe and take photos of animals from the transfer.
It was my first experience coming to Atacama and the guide Carolina was a 10/10, she taught us a lot about the fauna and history of the different places we visited and was super good with the timing, honestly one of the best experiences I have ever had 🔥

I booked the tour directly in their office for the next day. Their credit card machine wasn't working so I had to go to an ATM nearby which charged a processing fee of $8.000 CLP ($9 USD). At the time it didn't seem like a big deal as I was able to book my tour with cash. That night I received a WhatsApp message that my tour for the next morning was cancelled because maintenance needed to be done at the attractions. They then sent me a list of nine tours they do and offered to rebook me on a different one. I looked through the list and found a couple that seemed interesting. I messaged them. I then received a reply that most of the tours on the list they sent me were not actually available. They only had three options. All three were popular tours to places I had already gone. By the time they communicated this, it was too late in the night to book another tour with a different company. So I am now stuck in San Pedro de Atacama without a tour for the day. Even after the refund, I still will lose the $8.000 CLP I spent on the ATM processing fee all to not end up on a tour. I am sure the company will say the cancellation wasn't their fault. Maybe that is true, but they definitely did not need to send me a flier with a bunch of tours that weren't actually available. Had they been more forthright about only having the three tours as options from the very beginning, I might have had time to find one for today with a different operator.
