Smokey was a fantastic tour guide. He was so knowledgeable and also added personal stories which made the tour meaningful.
Very unorganized getting people on buses. I get it was the 4th of July, but you know how many guests were coming and it was 100 degrees and no water on our bus. Bus was extremely warm as well. Would have brought my own water, but information given said it would provided. Due to road closures we spend most of our time going around the block. Just got off at one point and Uber’d back to our hotel. Very disappointed!
Don’t book during high security events because all roads will be closed. We ended up going around in circles, Our tour guide Mona did her best but it was impossible to get places. We were disappointed.
Trey was a fantastic guide. Full of so much knowledge and history about DC as well as so much American history. It was a great experience and I’d highly recommend it.
This was a fantastic tour and Smokey was the best tour guide! He is also a great singer! He is extremely knowledgeable about the city, and throws in stories that give the tour a personal touch. Each stop allowed ample time to see the sites, and the AC on the bus was a welcomed break from the heat. Make sure to bring your own water and stay hydrated because there is a fair amount of walking.
It was a good ride around the city. Ms. Mona, our guide, was very knowledgeable, but most monuments were blocked because streets were closed down for the holiday event on the mall.
The meeting point was very hard to find. Fourth of July weekend with lots of road closures and barriers set up, meeting point was near the parade route and impossible to get to by car and on foot. We left our hotel in plenty of time and still couldn't maje it so we gave up. I tried to reach the tour via text on viator and was unsuccessful. The tour had my contact info which included my cell number AND email and not once was I warned about difficulty getting there, nor was I contacted when the tour started asking me where I wad or if I was coming. They did offer me another tour, however we were leaving for home on the 5th and no tours on the 4th. Poor communication on their part. Viator was extremely nice and helpful in trying to get it resolved and a refund issued although the tour would not give a refund. I have done a nightime tour on DC before, loved it and so was looking forward to this one, on my birthday too I might add. Very disappointing. They should have given an alternate meeting point, offered hotel pickup or at the very keast, contact us on how to get there. I feel like this tour company simply didn't care and just took the money.
So chaotic, look i get that it was July 3rd and security is amped up but for the tour guide to state they never seen it this amped up with police and military, several streets closed. I am getting ahead of myself....boarding the busses was a nightmare, our tour started late because they didnt have enough seats, people were on the wrong bus supposedly but they overbooked for sure. Than the supervisor got on the bus yelled at the customers for boarding the wrong bus. We saw a total of 1 monument planned on the trip, saw a sliver of the white house, going in circles on a big bus in a tight city, air conditioner barely worked, hot as all haides today....the tour supposedly came with a bottle of water, never got that. After going down the same streets and circles over and over again we got off, like a lot of the people and got an Uber. Did I mention our bus driver at one point left us on the side of the street for 10 minutes......if your companies only job is to drive people around on big busses and is in a high traffic, pedestrians everywhere and our nation's capital, in stead of being a greedy money hungry tours they should have not had their busses running at night.....it sucks there was people on the bus from Hawaii, Washington state, California etc basically all over the country the tour was a bust and waste of money 122 dollars down the drain to see pretty much pure chaos and disorganization.
This is crap. The AC doesn't work(it was advertised as a comfortable tour on a nice bus with AC), the bathroom on the bus doesn't work, we dont get a bottle of water as advertised, and no one knows what they are doing. When we arrived, there was absolutely no organization and no way of us knowing which bus we get on, and only one of the people had a list of names. There were 6 buses and over a 150 people trying to figure out which one to get on. Meanwhile, drivers and tour guides were disorganized and confused. They finally i started showing people on the buses without a names list and families were getting broken up. The seat were all torn up both on the seat and back areas, scratching our legs the entire time. It has been 102° outside today, and most everyone was in shorts. We're do dissatisfied and would like our money back immediately. We would not recommend this to anyone. What will be done to rectify this experience?
Kareem our guide was fabulous! Very informative and knew his subject matter well. Despite the heat wave, he kept everyone interested through American history trivia, getting to know people’s names and where they were from and even sharing books he knew of, as well. Thank you! My son learned a lot.
