Jared was our tour guide, and we could not have been more impressed. He was so knowledgeable not just about Mt. Vernon but also about DC itself, history, sights, architecture, whatever our group had a question about. His presentation was clear and went way beyond just facts about Washington, his family, and Mt. Vernon to the economic systems in the North and South, details about infrastructure in Old Alexandria , DC, how the Potomac River was used, and so much more. He had also lived in Asia for several years—my grandkids have grown up in Singapore although they are American citizens, and they were delighted to hear about his experiences living there and sharing theirs with him. I recommend him very, very highly. It was a most enjoyable tour.

Had a great tour with Galen. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the property's history. He even had some trivia for us as we drove. Mount Vernon is always crowded but they do a good job limiting entrance to the house so that you have time to appreciate the rooms and hear the independent guide.

Galen was our guide and I rate him as outstanding. He knows everything there is to know about American history. Galen was supposed to drop us off by the National Mall, but because there was a sudden heavy rainstorm, he brought us to our hotel. This was above and beyond what we expected. Great afternoon for a great tour.

Touring Mt. Vernon was great but the tour guide and transport was terrible. I would not recommend to anyone. You would be better off getting to Mt. Vernon yourself. Due to all the activities going on in downtown DC, the tour guide had to change the pickup location, which was fine. However with the extreme heat, I called him about 20 mins before the pickup asking what kind of transport to expect so we could be on the lookout for when he arrived so we could remain in the shaded areas. I was told "Don't worry about it". "If I don't see you, I'll call you." Really? The sprinter van was clean but smelled of recent smoke that made me want to barf. The 25 min drive to Mt Vernon was painful listening to useless commentary to fill dead air space. Then when we arrived, we were treated to warm water bottles to enjoy in 90 degree heat. The tour around the property was interesting and cool, and we avoided eyesight with the tour guide so we wouldnt be subject to more useless chatter. Really enjoyed the Mt. Vernon site, but again, would have preferred handling it independently, rather than paying $100 pp for terrible tour company. I was really surprised that a reputable company like this provided something so shameful. Thankfully we had a friend pick us up at Mt. Vernon rather than have to take the return trip. AVOID AT ALL COST!
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent Mt. Vernon tour. We are genuinely sorry to learn that your experience fell far short of your expectations. We deeply apologize for the lack of professionalism and care you experienced from our guide. We are reviewing our communication protocols to ensure that future guests receive timely, accurate assistance in such situations. We are embarrassed that the van’s odor detracted from your comfort. We have immediately addressed this with our vehicle maintenance team to ensure that all vans are thoroughly cleaned and smoke-free before each tour. Additionally, we are reevaluating our in-transit commentary to ensure it is engaging, relevant, and respectful of our guests’ preferences. We also apologize for the warm water bottles provided on a 90-degree day. We are implementing stricter checks to guarantee that all refreshments are properly chilled, especially during hot weather. We are truly sorry that we failed to provide the reliable, enjoyable experience you deserved. We hope you will give us another chance in the future to provide the level of service we pride ourselves on.
