Great places to eat. Especially the tapas at the beginning. Great tour guide (Robert) who was knowledgeable friendly and helpful
Tried some really lovely food with great historical insights from Robert, our guide. Learned a lot about some of the more off-beat events of the past. It was a really hot day, but Robert did his best to keep us in the shade. I like the fact that there was the option to purchase cocktails at a couple of the locations. Centring around he East Market was also a great way to see how the locals eat and shop. The people on the tour were also lovely.
I am glad I received this as a gift because I’m not sure I would have spent money on this otherwise. We received more of a Capitol Hill history tour of random facts than a food tour. Not to mention our tour guide wasn’t the friendliest. She seemed very opinionated and didn’t do a great job connecting history to the restaurant. In total, when looking at the cost of each tasting it was maybe valued at $30 a person (if that). For $70 a person I would have hoped for a bit more, including bigger portions, more information on the restaurants we were going to and more creative selections for the restaurants. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this particular tour but maybe it was just our guide and the neighborhood.
Robert is a fantastic guide! He is great with accommodating the whole group into the tour infusing past and current history. The foods on this neighborhood tour are great as well…
Wayne was our tour guide! He was very knowledgeable of the area and had some amazing interesting stories! We had some great and tasty food.
They put on a good show. Quite a few laughs, but clearly slanted hard left. They claim to balanced, but they are not. To make a big deal about Trump's documents, but nothing about biden's - unfair. To mock MTG and Bobbit, but not AOC and the squad - really? If you are a committed leftist, you will probably love it, but otherwise, you may find it a bit annoying as I did.
Christian was very knowlegable and personable. It was like going on a walk with a friend. The restaurant choices were great!!! If I could have eaten more I would have!!!
Christian led the tour, he had insightful tidbits that he shared. I wish he had pushed us to stick together more though as when speaking you couldn't always hear what he was saying. Food was just ok to me. Not a fan of it being served family style with a bunch of strangers all touching the food. And 2 places were Hispanic (Mexican). Would have liked better options of diversity. Joined this tour for the Salvadorian option and they served Quesadillas. That's not even real. Serve Pupusas next time. Enjoyed speaking to the people of the group more than the tour honestly.
Robert was a fantastic guide - he gave us a great overview of the history, architecture, and culture of Capitol Hill and was a lot of fun to be with. We got to cover a lot of ground, much of it off the main roads to places where he had interesting stories. There was a good mix of food at a variety of places - the cod fritters at our first stop were insanely good! This was our first time doing this type of tour, but it won't be our last!
So much fun walking around and seeing this re-vitalized area of DC. Enjoyed everything from the sparkling sangria to the home made pop-tarts.
