Syntagma es la plaza central de Atenas. La plaza lleva el nombre de la Constitución que Otto, el primer rey de Grecia, se vio obligado a otorgar después de un levantamiento popular y militar el 3 de septiembre de 1843. Se encuentra frente al antiguo Palacio Real del siglo XIX, que alberga el Parlamento griego desde 1934 La plaza Syntagma es la plaza más importante de la Atenas moderna, tanto desde el punto de vista histórico como social, en el corazón de la actividad comercial y la política griega.
El Mercado Central (también llamado Varvakios Agora) se encuentra entre Monastiraki y Omonoia Square y es una visita obligada si te gusta explorar la cultura y la comida griegas. La estructura fue construida a fines del siglo XIX y está abierta todos los días desde temprano en la mañana hasta tarde. We enjoyed our walking tour with Tassos. Interesting stories loved the hole in the wall places be took us and got to feel the vibe of being a local in a place I’d never been! I’m still full ! Great Greek pastries, olives and gyros ! Plus recipes for later !

This was a superb tour! Our guide, Tassos was so funny, knowledgeable and kind. The pace was perfect and we chatted all the way around. The food was delicious and plentiful with us tasting things and seeing streets and markets we’d never have ventured into or tried. This has been a wonderful four hours! Highly recommend

Tassos, our guide for the day, is extraordinary; he took the time to tell us the history of the city of Athens and took us on a journey through culinary history in an exceptional conviviality. Tassos was fantastic! He did a great job explaining the places, history, and the food. The value was also great, the food portions were much larger than other food tours we have done and we left the tour with bags of fruit, nuts, and olives. Would highly recommend!
