¡La mejor manera de ver Akamas! Este recorrido es la forma más aventurera de explorar la península de Akamas y el Parque Nacional. El quad te dará la sensación de libertad y el buggy te dará la comodidad para disfrutar de este paseo. Podrás vivir la experiencia de conducir un vehículo todoterreno por las calles polvorientas y también nadar en las aguas azules de la bahía de Lara y la playa Tortuga. Itinerario
El recorrido comienza a las 10:00, pero los conductores deben estar aquí con al menos 20 minutos de anticipación para completar el papeleo, conocer a los conductores que instruirán los vehículos y las normas de seguridad. En medio de la ruta, habrá paradas en cafés para tomar agua y baño. Tenga en cuenta que conducir fuera de la carretera puede ser polvoriento, por lo que recomendamos cubrirse la cara y usar ropa informal. Para aquellos que planean nadar, traigan con ustedes todo lo que consideren necesario, como traje de baño, toallas y protector solar.
Pegeia está situada principalmente en las empinadas laderas de las colinas costeras tierra adentro desde Coral Bay, en el extremo sur de la península de Akamas. Se dice que el origen del nombre Pegeia deriva de la palabra latina Baia (Bahía). El pueblo en sí fue colonizado por primera vez por venecianos, durante la dominación veneciana de Chipre (1489-1570).
El EDRO III, con bandera de Sierra Leona, encalló el 8 de septiembre de 2011 en mar gruesa, durante un viaje a Rodas con un cargamento de placas de yeso. En el momento del accidente, el barco tenía nueve tripulantes, siete albaneses y dos egipcios. La tripulación fue rescatada y transportada por aire a un lugar seguro. El EDRO III pesa alrededor de 2,5 toneladas y tiene más de 80 metros de largo. Ya no está permitido embarcar en el barco porque es peligroso.
El área cuenta con cuevas, así como espectaculares formaciones rocosas, que han tardado miles de años en formarse. Anteriormente, cuando la presencia humana era menos prominente, había focas (Monachus monachus) habitando las cuevas, lo que aumentó la popularidad de la zona entre los turistas.
Aquí, puedes comprar bebidas/aperitivos y usar el baño. En esta zona, entre 1952 y 1955, el Departamento de Antigüedades de Chipre excavó tres basílicas paleocristianas y un baño, todos ellos fechados en el siglo VI d.C. El asentamiento fue probablemente un puerto de escala para los barcos que transportaban grano desde Egipto a Constantinopla. El sitio arqueológico junto a St George's se considera el sitio bizantino temprano más importante de Chipre. Fuera de la costa se encuentra la isla Yeronisos (isla sagrada) que se supone que fue parte del continente en algún momento. Los hallazgos arqueológicos han mostrado tres grandes períodos de poblamiento: calcolítico, helenístico y bizantino temprano. Hay una iglesia que puede visitar, así como catacumbas, que se cree que pertenecieron a la versión anterior, así como un pequeño puerto deportivo panorámico que se suma al encanto y la espectacular vista de St George's.

Akamas es la última gran zona costera virgen que queda en Chipre y una de las pocas zonas importantes de anidación de tortugas marinas en el Mediterráneo. Tanto la tortuga boba (Caretta-caretta) como la tortuga verde (Chelonia mydas), más rara, anidan en Turtle Bay; este último depende de las playas de Akamas para su propia supervivencia en esta región. La UICN (Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza) cataloga a las tortugas bobas como “vulnerables” y a las tortugas verdes como una “especie en peligro de extinción”. Según la UICN, el número anual de hembras anidadoras de tortuga verde en todo el Mediterráneo podría ser tan bajo como 325-375. Desde finales de mayo hasta septiembre se pueden ver los nidos protegidos por pequeños recintos. En 1989 la región costera de Lara y mar adyacente fue declarada Área Protegida. Akamas lleva el nombre del hijo de Teseo, el mítico rey de Atenas. La vegetación principal del bosque de Akamas consiste en una flora arbustiva muy rica, y los árboles más dominantes son los pinos, los olivos silvestres y los algarrobos silvestres. Muchas minas de magnesio solían operar en la región de Akamas. a great way to see the island, covering many of the most popular tourist spots. the staff were excellent, and the buggy’s were easy to drive and allowed for easy transport across off-roading areas. the variety of food options was limited, but all were very delicious. the negatives include the fact that the goggles provided do not fit with regular glasses underneath as was assured. further, a wider variety of routes would be appreciated as we stay in cyprus every year and do the same route every year.
Very friendly staff. High quality quads and buggies. Our buggy was brand new and perfect for three of us. Very informative guide on the tour. Plenty of stops on the 5 hour tour to take in the sights. The lunch (you can purchase) was delicious. I would definitely reccomend this trip.
We booked this 5 hour tour on a spur of the moment And what an amazing adventure it turned out to be from seeing the sea caves and shipwreck to Lara bay and on seeing turtles the turtles in the water at Lara bay was brilliant then to go onto some other amazing places stopping for a lunch with a view then onto the mountains and the views are to die for From the very start to the end our guides were absolutely great would highly recommend 10/10
Not a great experience too many mechanical issues with 2 quads and a buggy that has limp mode issue for three house ruined the experience - no offer to refund or anything poor and ruined our day
My partner and I had the best day yesterday on this trip. The buggies are so much fun and a great way to see lots of this beautiful island. The stops were great and have a good amount of time at each. 5 hours flew by and we were sad to get back. All of the staff we're really friendly and accommodating, even when we were a little late due to taxi delays. Thank you so much.
the worst company I've ever driven with, doesn't let you go faster or have fun even 1%, everything is very strict and unpleasant, money spent in vain and I don't recommend it to anyone! My friends were all sad and had a bad time!

We booked the tour privately with a buggy (5 hours, 350 €) and had a guide who drove ahead. The route was varied and offered insights into the landscape of Akamas National Park , not far pure, but up to Larabay – overall a beautiful experience. However, we would have expected more individuality from a private tour. It was only operated according to plan, with long, specific stops and a 35-minute lunch break in a less attractive place with groups – although we had explicitly stated that we did not want lunch. Especially with a private booking, it would have been nice if something more had been taken into account – for example, more driving, less waiting. Overall good, but with room for improvement in the flexibility and service thoughts of the young guide.

A fun way to visit the Turtle Beach site, lunch at Lara bay and the off into the hills above the Akamas Penninsula. This is the way to go to this beach. A few people were heading with cars but the track is very rough. Our guide was very relaxed and friendly. A very dusty ride so take a face covering and wear clothes you don’t mind getting dusty. A great, fun day out

A fun day out for anyone. We went as a couple but equally as good for families of all ages. We had been due to go on the Akama tour but were told that we would be the only ones on the tour and asked whether we would go on the Adonis baths tour instead. We agreed, and whilst it wasn't exactly what we had planned, it was great to see scenery and more rural Cyprus. Tip - If travelling by car or taxi, go straight to the Agios Georgios Road address. This is where the tour starts and will avoid having to get a lift from the showroom.
Booked these through TUI and the team did not disappoint they made it fun and very enjoyable, staff were very attentive and extremely polite, there was 2 buggys in front of my son and i with young french men messing about and the team dealt with it swiftly and took action. I cannot recommend this enough and I will certainly be back and one of my excuses to come back to Cyprus as that's the best excursion and experience my son and I have had.
