La laguna de Ria Formosa, ubicada en el Algarve, en el sur de Portugal, es un sistema de islas de barrera que se comunica con el mar a través de seis entradas. Cinco de estas entradas son naturales y tienen características de movilidad. El sexto es una entrada artificial que se abrió con el fin de permitir un acceso más fácil al puerto de Faro. Dentro del sistema Ria Formosa, se pueden encontrar usos diferentes y a veces antagónicos. Parte del sistema es un parque natural, pero Ria Formosa también juega un papel importante en la economía de la región. Más allá del uso turístico, el sistema también apoya otras actividades económicas como granjas de mariscos (incluida la recolección de conchas de alfombras acanaladas) y el puerto de Faro. La Ria Formosa es también un Parque Natural designado de más de 170 km² y un lugar de parada para cientos de aves diferentes durante los períodos migratorios de primavera y otoño.
Ilha do Farol es una de las islas de barrera que forman la Ría Formosa. Esta isla que solía ser un pueblo de pescadores, hoy es un pequeño lugar turístico donde puedes encontrar un par de bares y restaurantes para tomar una copa o una comida completa.
La isla Culatra es una isla barrera ubicada en la Ría Formosa en la región del Algarve de Portugal. Tiene una población aproximada de alrededor de 700 personas divididas en tres comunidades de Farol, Hângares y Culatra.

This tour (and our guide, Bruno) could not have been more fun, interesting, and generous. We saw gorgeous islands, and learned about the marine life, habitat, fishing and marine history of Faro. And it's just so much fun to be out on the water! The boat trip with Bruno was a highlight of our visit to Faro.

2 h Speedboot super tour, great explanation and the FunFact was huge, immediately again. We headed to the islands could see the birds and enjoyed the spray on our faces. We also have some great souvenir photos.

An absolutely lovely 1 hour trip which was great fun. João our young captain was excellent and informative too. The guys in the office, Bruno and Maria are very nice and happy. We were 8 friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I recommend this company wholeheartedly 👌👍
