El bosque de manglar es uno de los ecosistemas más importantes y asombrosos del mundo. La Isla Damas, ubicada a solo 10 minutos de Manuel Antonio, es actualmente uno de los manglares más importantes que quedan en Costa Rica. Cubriendo miles de acres de bosque protegido, esta asombrosa biodiversidad alberga una gran cantidad de aves, reptiles, mamíferos e insectos.

Absolutely amazing tour.. A real, up close encounter with all the Biodiversity in the Damas Island Mangroves. Kevin is just too good. He explains everything in detail and is super friendly and warm. Literally saw atleast 8 different species of Birds and reptiles from very up close. Also saw some monkeys. Overall a highly recommended experience. Kevin is wonderful
We were very lucky with the timing: we had incredible weather and we were the only ones booked for the day (a Monday in August) so we basically had a private tour. Elias has been an incredible guide and we absolutely recommend the tour. Got to know about mangroves, local wildlife and even Costa Rican history in a chill and perfectly timed experience.
The pickup was just on time, though the driver first had to drive his wife home before picking our guide up an dropping us off. Then the guide was really motivated but poorly prepared so we wasted even more time. Due to the tide our pickup was scheduled at 3:30pm and not 10am as in the website. As it gets dark at 6pm sharp we only had around 1.5h on the kayak and not the promised 2h. If everything had been well prepared, we could have made the 2h, especially since it was only the two of us on the tour. The lunch afterwards, or rather dinner in our case, was very poor. We got to decide between Casado con Pollo or Pescado while still on the boat. After the kayaking we got dropped off at an empty restaurant and served the fish that was kept warm for to long. The rest of the Casado was not very tasty as well. All while the driver waited nervously outside. The mangroves were very nice and really interesting but the whole thing was nowhere near being worth 70$ each.

First, we would like to apologize for the situation with the transportation. A driver handling a personal matter while transporting guests is not part of our normal operating procedure, and we understand how this could create a poor first impression. We will address this internally with our transportation team. We would also like to clarify the departure time. Unlike tours with fixed schedules, our Mangrove Kayak Tour operates according to the tides. The safest and most suitable kayaking conditions in the mangrove channels depend on the daily tidal cycle, so departure times can vary considerably from one day to another. A 10:00 a.m. departure shown online should therefore not be understood as the departure time for every day. Nevertheless, we agree that this needs to be communicated as clearly as possible when customers booking so guests know what to expect. Your concern regarding the actual kayaking time is also understandable. With a 3:30 p.m. pickup and sunset approaching, preparation and coordination were especially important. The delays you described should not have reduced the quality of your experience, particularly with only two guests participating. We will review what happened with the team involved. We are also disappointed to hear about the meal. The post-tour meal is intended to be an enjoyable part of the experience, and what you describe regarding the food quality, restaurant atmosphere, and feeling rushed by the waiting driver is not the experience we want our guests to have. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention so that we can review it with the restaurant and transportation teams. While we are pleased that you enjoyed exploring the mangroves themselves, we recognize that an interesting destination alone is not enough. Transportation, preparation, guiding, kayaking time, and the meal all contribute to the overall value of the tour. In your case, those elements did not come together as they should have, and we understand why you were disappointed. Thank you again for your feedback. Great place and awesome place to have fun.
The whole experience was amazing! The transportation was very good quality, on time, and had air conditioning. They had free water, and after they took us to a nice and delicious restaurant where the food was paid for by the tour guide. The tour was beautiful, we saw many cool birds and animals and the amazing guide Kevin taught us about the whole ecosystem and answered all our questions. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone, we got to experience so much for such a reasonable price.
Rodolfo was an amazing guide! He was very nice, extremely knowledgeable, and made the whole experience so much fun. Thanks to his eagle eyes, we spotted incredible wildlife that we would have completely missed on our own.
We had a really nice and interesting tour with Kevin.He spotted so many birds and small animals for us,we ve never had seen alone and told us very interesting facts about them and the hole enviroment.We have seen so many birds ,basilisks ,different Iguanas and monkeys.Top guide!
I had a great experience on the mangrove kayak tour! Kevin and Marcos picked us up on time at our resort. We then kayaked around the mangroves. Throughout our tour we saw many monkeys, several birds, lizards and different types of mangrove trees. Kevin is very well educated in the field and is very informative. My boyfriend and I both learned so much and had many good laughs. The lunch provided was 10/10 best food i have had since arriving in costa rica. Highly recommend this tour
This tour was really cool. Our guide Johnny pointed out all different species that we would have never seen on our own (boa, white faced capuchins, tiger crabs, heron, vulture, bats etc) we always felt safe. There were 5 other people in the tour but it didn’t feel too big of a group. After the tour we had an included lunch at a local soda which was SOOOOO good. A great experience overall. Also there were boat tours happening at the same time but we were happy to be in the kayaks because we could go into tighter paths through the mangroves than the boats. Johnny was awesome!
