¿Buscas la clave secreta para desbloquear una experiencia alternativa y auténtica en Los Ángeles como ninguna otra? Le daremos una idea de por qué el lado este de Los Ángeles es una mezcla heterogénea tan magnífica. Desde el amplio y extenso Elysian Park, bordeado de palmeras, con vistas panorámicas del Dodger Stadium, hasta una cárcel art déco que alguna vez albergó a Al Capone. A través de todo esto está el río Los Ángeles, el alma de Los Ángeles.

Nuestro guía local lo recibirá en nuestro bungalow exclusivo para bicicletas en el adorable Atwater Village, un vecindario fácil de recorrer a pie conocido por su ambiente de cafeterías y tiendas artesanales. Le presentaremos su bicicleta eléctrica, la familiarizaremos (sí, ¡todas las bicicletas eléctricas tienen nombre!) y le equiparemos con equipo de seguridad.
Nos dirigimos a tranquilas calles residenciales hacia el río Los Ángeles.
Entramos al río por el nuevo "Red Car Bridge" libre de automóviles, llamado así por los legendarios Red Car Rail Trolleys que retumbaron sobre el río Los Ángeles en el mismo lugar hace más de 60 años. El nuevo puente metálico, con franjas rojas a los lados, es sólo para peatones y ciclistas. También aprenderemos sobre nuestro querido río Los Ángeles, el alma de Los Ángeles. Hacia el sur nos detendremos en el puente Taylor Yard. Este puente de color naranja brillante (400 pies de largo x 18 pies de ancho e inaugurado en 2022 solo para ciclistas y peatones), ofrece dos miradores en voladizo con amplias vistas al norte y al sur de las comunidades adyacentes y el entorno natural de la sección del río Glendale Narrows.

Elysian Valley, conocido como Frogtown, es una comunidad progresista de artistas, arquitectos, industriales ligeros y residenciales multigeneracionales. El centinela permanente es el nuevo puente Taylor Yard. Este nuevo puente para bicicletas, de color naranja brillante, con su distintivo estilo de caja de marco abierto, está ubicado en el tramo relativamente natural del río Glendale Narrows, de ocho millas de largo. Mide 400 pies de largo y 20 pies de ancho y cuenta con dos plataformas de observación en voladizo, llamadas miradores, con amplias vistas al norte y al sur y está diseñado exclusivamente para peatones y ciclistas, conectando los vecindarios de Elysian Valley y Cypress Park. As an architecture and urban design professor, this e-bike tour gave my students and I an entirely unique view of the city. We started up close with river history and ecology, visited project highlights along the way, then climbed the hills of Elysian Park for a bird’s eye view - Dodger Stadium, Mt Washington, Taylor Yards bridge, all the way to downtown. Though we had varying skill levels among the class, everyone managed the e-bikes just fine. I never could’ve made that route without the nice assist these bikes offer. We were lucky enough to have two guides, too. Gavin brings so much excitement and humor, with an appreciated eye on safety and an eye for detail and a touch of flair (love the bandanas!). Nic joined us later in the tour and really connected with the students. The time flew by. I would absolutely do it again and encourage my friends - visitors and locals alike - to take a tour. So much fun and what a great way to see one of the city’s truly special public spaces.

I had THE BEST time on this E-Bike LA tour! I had been to LA a couple of times before but only really explored the typical hot spots so this tour was SO different and so much fun! Our guide Gavin was really accommodating and enthusiastic and had a lot of local knowledge about these cool pockets of LA that we rode through. It was a totally unique experience. Also, I personally can only stand riding a regular bike for a short while before I get too uncomfortable or tired from peddling, but the E-bikes are awesome! Having the bike take over when you are tired of peddling was a game changer. Thankfully, Gavin kept the pace at a reasonable speed for us so I was able to enjoy the route and soak in the sights and not have to think about much other than that! It was a great way to see a completely different side of LA. I am definitely coming back for another tour and bringing friends! Thumbs UP!
