On our last Alleppey trip, we rode on both a houseboat and a Shikara boat, and the Shikara was the highlight of our trip. Unlike the massive houseboats, the Shikara easily navigated the narrow, winding canals, giving us an up-close look at the beautiful village life and lush scenery. Wonderful and relaxing 2 hour Shikara boat cruise through the Alleppey Backwaters. We were able to experience real village life with families fishing and farming rice paddies. Highly recommended to take shikara instead of Houseboat to experience the narrow canals and backwaters of Alleppey.
