El trayecto de Sarajevo a Srebrenica es de aproximadamente 2 horas y media. Visitaremos el Centro Memorial de Srebrenica y la ciudad de Srebrenica. El genocidio de Srebrenica fue la masacre que ocurrió en julio de 1995 en la que más de 8000 bosnios, en su mayoría hombres, pero también mujeres y niños, que vivían en Srebrenica y sus alrededores, fueron asesinados. El Tribunal Penal Internacional para la ex Yugoslavia declaró que la masacre de Srebrenica fue un genocidio. Potočari, un pequeño lugar cerca de Srebrenica, fue declarado zona segura por las unidades holandesas de la ONU. Sin embargo, las unidades serbobosnias invadieron la zona de protección y masacraron a más de 8000 bosnios. Hay imágenes de video de ese período, reproducidas en el Memorial Center, que muestran ejecuciones. Las víctimas fueron enterradas en fosas comunes y, hasta el día de hoy, muchas víctimas aún no han sido identificadas ni encontradas. El Memorial fue inaugurado oficialmente por el expresidente estadounidense Bill Clinton en septiembre de 2003. Ese mismo año, en marzo, se identificaron las primeras 600 víctimas.

A must visit museum when you visit Sarajevo and you want to learn about the recent history. Some of the picures and TV-images though are quite confronting.

Being able to see and walk through the factory where over 25000 sought refuge made a huge impact on me. the footage and photographs were hard to watch but so important to remember. I would advise everyone to visit who want to understand and make sense of the atrocities that happened in Srebrenica.

The Srebrenica day tour was very easy to organise with Kamer. Our tour guide Vekas was fantastic - he was very professional, informative and ensured the tour was tailored to us. We had adequate time to learn about the history, view the museum and cemetery. We greatly enjoyed the journey with beautiful scenery and learning about the history.
