I highly recommend this acropolis early morning tour. It’s the best time of the day to see this spectacular sight
Hi Debra, You said it! Early morning really is the magic hour to take in the Acropolis before the crowds and heat set in. We are so glad you had a great experience and truly appreciate you taking the time to leave such a high recommendation. Safe travels wherever your adventures take you next! Dionysus was fabulous. Friendly and informative and quick to find a shady spot to talk about stuff but also helped us to be among the very first to ascend the steps of the acropolis to the Parthenon. Really great.
Hey Michele, Skipping breakfast was definitely worth it to get those prime, crowd-free steps up to the Parthenon! Dionysis really knows how to balance getting everyone to the top early with finding those crucial shady spots along the way. We are so glad you had such a great morning with him. Thank you for sharing your experience and the awesome tip for future early risers! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
Wonderful tour of Acropolis. Worth the extra cost to do the early access. Magical to see the sun low in sky and comfortable even in mid-July. They time things very well so you beat the crowds and the worst of the heat. Coming down the way up was so crowded as they inched along. And the heat became intense. Ends exactly in front of the Acropolis museum. No line. Amazing AC to reset and to see the sculptures from the Acropolis. Quick visit and well worth it. Our guide was great.
Hey Janelle, There really is nothing quite like seeing the sun low in the sky over the Acropolis before the heat and big crowds roll in! We are so glad our timing helped you beat that intense mid-July heat and navigate the site comfortably. Ending right by the AC at the museum is definitely the best way to cool down and wrap up the morning. Thank you for sharing your experience and the great tips for other travelers! Very detailed, very informative. Andrea was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and extremely friendly.
Hey Helen, Andrea really is fantastic! Her combination of deep knowledge, patience, and warmth makes exploring the Acropolis early in the morning such a treat. We are so glad you enjoyed the tour and had a great experience beating the crowds with her. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
This tour was worth every dollar to beat the heat and the crowd. We were one of the first 30 people into the Acropolis which allowed us to get a picture with no other people in the background. Our tour guide, Evie, did a great job explaining the background of the sights. This 2 hour tour was perfect to hit the highlights.
Hey Carolyn, Being among the first people inside and scoring that rare, crowd-free photo is a massive win! Evie knows exactly how to work the clock to keep you ahead of the rush, and we are so glad her insights made the two hours feel both efficient and deep. Thank you for choosing us to help you beat the heat! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
The only part that may throw you off is that the guide waited at the gate not on the lower drop off area. This is because they are attempting to hold a place in line to get the best access. It is breath taking there and though it can tell its own story the attraction itself is large and everything has a story. Our guide also provided practical tips to be safe and I give her full credit for taking initiative and holding a spot in the shade to give us more information--It was the ONLY SPOT on the top with shade so very well planned out and also very knowledgeable
Hey Chad, You nailed exactly why our guides stand where they do—it is all about strategic line-positioning to beat the rush, even if the lower drop-off area seems more intuitive at first glance. We love that your guide's planning paid off, especially locking down that single, coveted shady spot at the top. The Acropolis is massive and can easily be overwhelming, but having that safety net of practical tips and deep-dive stories makes all the difference. Thanks for trusting our strategy and sharing your experience! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
So glad we chose this option for our visit to the Acropolis! The crowds that had gathered by the time we were leaving made us feel very fortunate that we'd had the opportunity to get there early. Our guide Dionysus was great, particularly appreciated that he always made sure we were in the shade when he stopped to talk! We did this tour with a four year old and a baby and it was just the right length to avoid them getting too bored.
Hey Charlotte, Taking on the Acropolis with a four-year-old and a baby is a serious achievement, so we are absolutely happy to hear the tour was the perfect length to keep everyone happy! Seeing those massive crowds on your way out really makes that early alarm feel worth it. We will be sure to pass along your thanks to Dionysus for keeping you all cool and well-shaded. Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
We too the first of the day up to the Acropolis-good move since it got hot FAST! Informative tour and we appreciated our guide moving us to places less crowded.
Hey Julie, Taking that first slot of the day is always a brilliant move—the Athens heat really does kick in fast! We are so glad your guide knew exactly how to navigate the site and find those quieter, less crowded pockets for you. Thank you for the great feedback and for joining us!
