Awesome experience. We were lucky to watch dolphins swimming and some brave swimmers joining them. The sail to the spot though was hair raising but exciting experience. The waves were at their best. This is a repeat experience.
I am so grateful I ended up with this group for my trip to Wasini. Each member of the crew was welcoming, kind, attentive and generous. The boat ride was beautiful and they took their time allowing us ample time to enjoy and film the dolphins. Added treat was seeing a village on the island where the captain Jerry was born and meet his adorable niece and nephew. The cherry on top was the music as we headed toward lunch. Cannot say enough good things.. oh and Marion the host was lovely and gracious.
The activity was cancelled at the last minute due to adverse weather on the side of the Kisité reserve. The operator had trouble reaching us to warn in time, the same day Coral Spirit had us refunded through the booking site and offered us another free activity near the coast with a glass bottom boat to observe the fish. Nice commercial gesture.
We booked with Kiko after he had taken us for a free sea safari, as he called it, on the hotel's beach. That was a fun hour, and we got chatting and decided to book the Wasini trip with him. I know people can have reservations about the guys selling on the beach, but our experience has always been positive. (We also booked a trip to Mombasa as well, in our second week, and on both occasions, the transport and guides were excellent) We set out at 7.30 am for the hour long drive, and we're soon on board being introduced to the crew. We set sail under cloudy skies and were soon bathing in sunshine, enjoying the beautiful views of mangroves and the shoreline. When we got to the small island for snorkelling, the crew provided masks and fins and took everyone on a guided tour, so we we able to see the abundant sea life. We could also swim or wade up to the island to explore, and then watch as it disappeared as the sea level rose! Then, we were back on board in search of dolphins, and they put on a great show for us. We then started our return journey with a stop at the Coral Spirit, an excellent seafood restaurant on the beach. Our orders had been placed on the outward journey, so it was ready when we arrived. I can't fault the quality. We had snapper, crab, prawns, and lobster, with a very modest supplement for the lobster (£7.50) and the prawns (£15). Desert was fruit and the freshest mangos we've ever had. Then we sailed home, with the crew entertaining us with an unexpected performance of some Kenyan music. The organisation of the day was spot and meant we could just sit back and relax as everything was done for us.
We took a trip to the Island and crossed over with a boat to the mainland. Seeing the dolphins was an absolutely amazing experience. The locals we encountered were very friendly as we took a walk along the trails where we saw some nice historical views. We also had a local swahili lunch that entailed a variety of seafood which was the highlight of the day!
All right, the team was great and so was the outing. One detail, however, was that the guide would speak French, whereas this was not the case. It's not really a problem but it wasn't what was indicated
A wasini Island day tour from Diani is unmissable for marine life enthusiasts and snokling lovers. It's also the only place you can go for dolphin tour in Diani, near the kisite mpunguni marine park. Lunch at the nearby wasini Island allow you to explore cuisine and learn more about the community ways of living.
I had such a wonderful day! If you're considering booking this tour, I highly recommend that you go for it! Everyone involved with Coral Spirit was fantastic. Jay and the other team members were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They pointed out different fish in the water, ensured we had enough to drink, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the day. The homemade lunch was amazing, and the entire experience was perfectly planned. The waters are stunning, the boat ride was enjoyable, and everyone was very friendly. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! The next time I'm in Diani, I will definitely book another Coral Spirit tour— the quality is truly unmatched! Thanks so much for a great day!
This trip was the heart of my Diani beach experience. My day trip to Wasini Island was run by a family (Juma MBaruk Reje) We went snorkeling. They were excellent caring guides! It was my first time snorkeling and it was amazing. The trip is well worth your day. The food was outstanding. I felt emotional when it was over and wanted to do it again.
Departure from Diani with a local operator who picks us up at the hotel and takes us to the Marine Park of the island of Wasini. Very exciting day, with a beautiful snorkeling session on the coral reef, a bit of relaxation on the nearby islet (dream!) and a typical lunch of fish and local dishes. On the way back we also saw a family of dolphins! What a thrill! The only out of tune note, the long time you spend sailing to and from the reef, you basically stay out about 6/7 hours to do an hour of snorkeling/beaching. For the rest all nice, I would definitely do it again
