En nuestro tour de un día a Oban desde Glasgow, experimentará un poco de todo lo que la espectacular belleza natural de Escocia tiene para ofrecer. Estas son las escarpadas Tierras Altas Occidentales, donde majestuosas montañas caen hacia gloriosos lagos. Los castillos y cañadas esconden historias trágicas de hace siglos, y los bulliciosos puertos sirven comida sabrosa y atracciones galardonadas. Su amable conductor-guía le dará vida a las leyendas escocesas mientras compartimos nuestro país, desde las bonitas orillas del lago Lomond hasta la inquietante Glencoe.

Verás el lago Lomond a través de tu ventana panorámica mientras serpenteamos por sus costas occidentales. Si miras a la derecha verás Ben Lomond, el Munro más meridional de Escocia (una montaña por encima de los 3000 pies) y el primero del recorrido. También tendremos una breve parada de refresco cerca del lago.
Hacemos una pausa para tomar fotos en "Descansa y sé agradecido", un emblemático mirador escocés llamado así gracias a las palabras grabadas en piedra por los cansados soldados que construyeron la carretera militar original en 1753.
Inveraray es una de las ciudades más fotografiadas de Escocia. Establecido en 1745 por el III duque de Argyll, jefe del poderoso clan Campbell. Inveraray es un ejemplo clásico de una ciudad planificada del siglo XVIII con su distintiva arquitectura georgiana encalada. Los pasajeros pueden explorar la ciudad y sus tiendas o visitar una de las atracciones enumeradas a continuación. (Tenga en cuenta que esta parada puede reducirse a 60 minutos en invierno para minimizar el impacto de la puesta de sol temprana más adelante en el recorrido).
Los pasajeros tienen la opción de explorar el castillo de Inveraray, donde viven actualmente el duque de Argyll y su familia (las entradas se pueden comprar el mismo día). Respire el aire puro de las Tierras Altas mientras pasea por el parque, el bosque y los jardines, que resplandecen con los arcoíris de las azaleas y los rododendros que florecen en Argyll en verano. (Tenga en cuenta que el castillo solo abre de abril a octubre, de jueves a lunes. Está cerrado todos los martes y miércoles.
En lugar de visitar el castillo, los pasajeros también pueden optar por visitar una de las principales atracciones para visitantes de Escocia, la Cárcel de Inveraray del siglo XIX, un museo viviente donde puede experimentar cómo era estar encarcelado detrás de sus rejas (los boletos se pueden comprar en el día) .

Originalmente un pequeño pueblo de pescadores, Oban es ahora la "puerta de entrada a las islas" y es conocida como la "capital del marisco" de Escocia. Hoy en día, el puerto es el principal punto de partida del ferry para la Isla de Mull y las Hébridas Interiores y Exteriores. Los amantes de los mariscos viajan desde millas a la redonda para saborear sus capturas diarias frescas en los restaurantes de la ciudad y también pueden saborear esto, u optar por platos escoceses clásicos o sabores más internacionales.
Castle Stalker es una de las fortalezas más fotografiadas de Escocia y se posa en su propio islote de marea en Loch Laich. Su conductor-guía le indicará el punto de vista para capturar fotografías.
Las oscuras montañas de Glencoe caerán sobre ti mientras te entregan a una cañada de asombrosa belleza natural. Es fácil volver a imaginar uno de los tiempos más vergonzosos de Escocia, la masacre de Glencoe en 1692, cuando los soldados del gobierno liderados por Campbell masacraron al clan MacDonald de noche. Such a great trip with Kieran. Loch Lomond was fab as was Glencoe. Really enjoyed the stops at Inveraray and Oban. Well paced day. Saw plenty and coach was comfortable. Kieran’s explanation of the sites and Scottish history was the icing on the cake

Lovely day, Gary, the driver was excellent, and his wife’s homemade shortbread only added to the enjoyment. Sites were as advertised, and even had a couple of bonus stops for pictures of the hairy coos! The only thing to be aware of, Invernay castle now charges buses to drop off, and this company has decided not to pay it. It is quite a distance for a person with mobility issues! By the time I walked there and needed to save time to walk back only had about 25 minutes at the actual castle. The company should either make this explicit in the tour description or do like the other buses I saw in the parking lot and either absorb the cost or charge an extra couple of dollars per person to make up for it.

We had a fantastic day exploring Oban, Glencoe, and the Scottish Highlands. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, from the dramatic landscapes of Glencoe to the stunning coastal views in Oban. Every stop offered incredible photo opportunities and a chance to experience the beauty and history of Scotland. A special mention goes to our tour guide, Stewart, who was outstanding throughout the trip. He was knowledgeable, friendly, entertaining, and made the journey even more enjoyable with his interesting stories and insights about the places we visited. A long day but you see so many things. Not at all rushed, able to spend time at all destinations. Maggie, our guide was excellent
This tour packs a lot into one day. The frequent stops (every ~30-60 minutes) are a nice way to break up the drive. The two longer stops (90 minutes) at Inveraray and Oban are enough time but feel a bit rushed: At Inveraray there is really only time for a quick tour of the castle. and at Oban there is really only time for lunch but no exploring. But overall, it was a good experience and a nice way to get a taste of the Highlands.

When we arrived and our tour guide, Scott, had a cone on his head, I knew either this was going to be the greatest tour ever or a complete nightmare. Thankfully, Scott turned out to be a highly entertaining, very personable, very high energy guide whose knowledge of history and the sights was encyclopedic. He also made it a point to celebrate the fact my wife and I were on our honeymoon, which was very sweet. We got tons of great pictures, guidance on the best places to eat and shop and he played fun music to keep our spirits up in between informative announcements.
