The three day trip from Mumbai is just enough to get a taste of the lovely scenery in Mahabeleshwar. The trip there and back is long (six or seven hours) but once you enter the hill station area you immediately relax. Our driver was excellent as was our guide. The only thing that let this down was the hotel was quite basic for a 4 star resort. Entirely adequate for two nights but well below what we were expecting.
Dear Mr. Mez Pahlan, Thank you for sharing your travel experience with us. I was aware of the possible issues that may arise after seeing your profile, having stayed in deluxe 5-star hotels in Mumbai, but you booked a 4-star hotel for your Mahabaleshwar package. In Mahabaleshwar, we have only three good 4-star hotels and two 5-star hotels. Upgrading to a 5-star hotel was beyond our budget, especially considering the higher rates charged by hotels due to peak bookings. Two of the preferred 4-star hotels we usually use were hosting a wedding and were sold out. We selected your stay at Bella Vista Resort, Mahabaleshwar, the 2nd best 4-star hotel, which had only a few rooms available, and those were in the starting room category. I was looking for a higher category room for you, but the hotel was unable to provide one, even after our request to pay extra for an upgrade, due to a confirmed group booking and being sold out. I hope you will understand the situation. Best regards, Shashi Gupta
