We had an amazing tour with Tommaso! We are a family of 4, including 10 year old twin girls, from Houston, Texas USA. Tommaso picked us up at our Airbnb and walked us to a private water taxi where we headed to Murano to see the glass blowing demonstration. There, he handed us off to Diego who explained the process to us as we watched a master artisan make a bowl and a horse. It was amazing to see this process in action! Then, Diego accompanied us while we visited the showroom displaying the pieces made by different artists. Of course the sales people want to sell, but we felt no pressure to buy anything. We decided to buy a piece of handmade Venetian glass as a souvenir upstairs and our kids picked out two small items from the small store on the first floor. If you want to buy real Venetian glass, this is the place to do so as all of what you see in Venice is cheap mass produced glass. From there, we met Tommaso again who took us to another private water taxi to take us to Burano. On this island, Tomasso accompanied us and gave us a tour of the local areas and explained the culture. We learned and saw so much more than we ever could have on our own. We walked around town and stopped for a snack before going to a lace shop where we saw a demonstration of the lace making process and again had the opportunity to buy some lace, but it is not mandatory. After that, Tommaso took us back to our third and final private water taxi which took us back to Venice. This was a great day with a great guide and a great tour company! This company employs only locals for their tours, so their enthusiasm and dedication is evident. We highly recommend this tour for the quality, ease, and convenience, especially with children. Grazie!
Georgia was outstanding! She was patient with our group and had amazing local knowledge.
Great tour guide made the experience nice for the family. Very accommodating. All very kid friendly and a nice day all around.
The guide was personable and spoke English well. He took us to two shops in each location, more to purchase expensive highly marked-up goods. Would have preferred a more varied experience.
Dear Jahangir, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and, above all, for the kind words you dedicated to our guide, Sebastiano. We are delighted to read that you found him personable, knowledgeable, and fluent in English, and that he made every effort to accommodate your requests by taking you to two different glass factories in Murano and two different lace ateliers in Burano. For this reason, we must admit that we were surprised to see a 3 star rating, especially since the main concern mentioned in your review relates to the prices of the products available for purchase inside the glass factory rather than to the quality of the tour itself or the service provided by Sebastiano. Based on your specific request to visit one of Murano’s most authentic historic furnaces and to experience genuine handmade Burano lace, we selected places that represent the highest level of traditional Venetian craftsmanship. Naturally, authentic Murano glass and hand-made Burano lace cannot be compared to mass-produced souvenirs or imitation products that can often be found elsewhere at much lower prices. Just as one would not visit a Gucci or Louis Vuitton boutique and expect prices comparable to those of imitation products sold elsewhere, authentic artisanal creations reflect the skill, heritage, and countless hours of work invested by the master craftsmen and artisans who create them. Our tour includes visits to one of the oldest glass factories in Murano and to the atelier of one of Burano’s historic lace making families, where these centuries old traditions are still preserved and practiced entirely by hand. While guests are always free to browse without making any purchases, we believe these visits offer a unique opportunity to witness authentic craftsmanship that is becoming increasingly rare. We also feel it is important to note that product pricing is determined entirely by the individual artisans and workshops and is unrelated to the guide’s service, which, according to your own comments, was highly appreciated. Nevertheless, we sincerely appreciate your feedback and thank you again for joining us. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you on another one of our tours in the future and providing you with another memorable experience in Venice. Kind regards, Luca
I do not regret the investment! It was a quality private tour just for two people. So peaceful, with a private water taxi and a very personal experience. Mikaella, our guide, was perfect. Young and dynamic, originally from the area. We even received a small gift at the end! Top-notch!
A fabulous day with our tour guide Nico. Everything was perfect - Nico was very energetic and clearly very knowledgeable. His insights about Venetian life and history were captivating. We were a large group of 11 and Nico made sure to involve everyone. I highly recommend Nico and ShoMeVenice. A perfect day for my family - thank you.
Sebastian was the perfect tour guide. He was both knowledgeable and charismatic. Murano was very interesting and the glasswork was beautiful. Burneo is like a storybook town. Charming and the lace was beautiful. Overall a lovely day.
Perfect way to spend the day and our guide Georgia was amazing. Highly recommend the private tour to Murano and Burano. The boat ride was lovely and got to see a different side of Venice. The glass factory was impressive. We did feel pressure by the staff to make a large purchase which was a little uncomfortable. Burano was spectacular. We wish we could have stayed longer. Georgi showed us the town and areas that were off the beaten path. Definitely loved this island.
We had such a fabulous time with Nico, a native Venetian, touring the islands of Murano and Burano. Our kids (11,8&6) had a great time seeing how glass is made in the very traditional glass blowing method and seeing lace being made. We all learned something and had a great time. Private boat transfers were so very nice (hold onto your hats though😉🤣).
After a stellar “Real Hidden Venice” tour with Sebastian’s in Venice, we were thrilled when we arrived at our meeting point for this tour and found him again. Guiding us for a second day, he was as engaging and knowledgeable about this nearby islands as he was about Venice proper. Our favorite had to be the beautiful art of glass making. A lifetime of work by master artisans who craft breathtaking pieces with ease and precision in ways that are difficult to comprehend without seeing them in action. Walking through the showroom is an immersive and enlightening experience in what in means to be a true master. They are very much painters of glass. We were all in awe. We continued on to Burano where we learned about the history of the colorful landscape and the almost lost art of lace making. By exposing ourselves to these generational trades, we felt closer to understanding the full depth of what it means to be Venetian, even today. We highly recommend this tour.
