La historia de los judíos de Riga es muy rica y significativa. Gran parte de este patrimonio todavía se puede ver hoy. En tres horas con un guía experimentado, tanto en coche como a pie, es posible visitar lugares importantes y recibir información de forma muy concentrada, pero al mismo tiempo fácil y comprensible. Tenga en cuenta que en Shabat y otras festividades religiosas judías, la Sinagoga y el Museo del Gueto de Riga están cerrados. La duración del recorrido depende de la intensidad del tráfico en la calle.

Varios hermosos edificios en esta parte de Riga fueron diseñados por el arquitecto judío Mikhail Eisenstein y en uno de los edificios nació el filósofo Isaiah Berlin.
Este es el antiguo territorio del gueto judío de Riga, donde muchos edificios están en la misma forma que hace 80 años en la época de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
El 4 de julio de 1941, más de 300 refugiados judíos de Lituania y judíos letones locales fueron conducidos al sótano de la sinagoga, que luego fue quemada intencionalmente hasta los cimientos. Hay un lugar memorial hoy.
En noviembre de 1941, los nazis decidieron exterminar por completo a los prisioneros judíos del gueto de Riga. Durante los hechos que tuvieron lugar el 30 de noviembre y el 8 de diciembre de 1941, más de 25.000 personas fueron asesinadas en el bosque de Rumbula, incluyendo aproximadamente un millar de judíos que fueron deportados de Alemania. Un memorial completo fue inaugurado el 29 de noviembre de 2002.

La sinagoga de Riga en la calle Peitavas es una de las joyas del Art Nouveau de Riga y un importante monumento cultural. a Sinagoga fue construida entre 1903 y 1905 y diseñada en estilo Art Nouveau con motivos del Antiguo Egipto.

This was a very comprehensive and informative tour about the Jews of Riga. It gave the history, the accomplishments, and the tragic end during the holocaust. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, and explained everything thoroughly. He gave us enough time at all the stops to do a little exploration on our own.
Armands was very knowledgeable and answered our questions. We went to several sites and witnessed memorials for the Jews that were killed in World War II. This tour is a somber tour and was presented with tact and honor for the memories of those lost. We learned much and purchased a book at the Jewish Ghetto museum.

Armands was very knowledgeable about Jewish culture and the history of Jews in Riga. We booked the tour for a Saturday which meant that a few things were closed for Shabbat. Armands was flexible and brought us to another place of interest instead.
