It's a walking tour of Ghent with chocolate stops along the way. Whilst the chocolate stops were good I enjoyed the information provided on the tour pointing out history and facts. If you like chocolate and want some city history I would consider this walking tour.
Thanks! It is great to read that you enjoyed the chocolate stops as well as the history!
The sightseeing aspect of the tour was good, but it was let down by the chocolate tasting. We expected visits to some of Ghent’s best independent chocolatiers, but instead ended up in a tourist trap called Meraki, drinking hot chocolate topped with squirty cream and Maltesers, and at an ice cream shop serving Costa coffee. After the tour, we visited Van Hoorebeke and saw other tour groups there for tastings, which seemed much more in line with what we had expected. I think this tour would benefit from including a stop like that. It was also surprising that the guide had not heard of Mary, one of Belgium’s best-known chocolatiers, which did not inspire much confidence in the chocolate side of the tour. Overall, for the tour felt overpriced for what was offered, and would be improved by focusing on quality rather than quantity.
Thank you very much for your review and for sharing your experience with us. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the sightseeing aspect of the tour, although we’re sorry that the chocolate tastings did not fully meet your expectations. We understand that many visitors are looking for a more traditional focus on classic chocolatiers, and we appreciate your perspective on this. Our tours are designed to offer a mix of chocolate-related experiences, including both traditional and more modern concepts. For example, the hot chocolate at Meraki is made using fresh Callebaut, one of Belgium’s most renowned chocolate producers, although we understand that the style and presentation may not have matched what you had in mind. Thank you as well for your suggestion regarding more traditional chocolatiers, we truly value this kind of feedback and will take it into consideration as we continue improving the tour. Regarding the ice cream stop, while the venue also serves Costa Coffee, our focus there is on their artisanal ice cream, which is handmade using milk from a local dairy farm. Thanks again for your feedback—we always aim to improve and genuinely appreciate your insights.
A very nice guide, it was very nice that we were with a small group. There was room for all our questions and we have seen parts of Ghent where we otherwise would not have gone.
Thank you for your lovely review. We like to read you enjoyed the tour and your guide. Happy future travels!
Great tour. Lots of chocolate tasting, and a hot chocolate drink. The walking tour part was very informative. Sophie did a great job.
Thank you so much! We are grateful that you appreciated the tour and your guide! Happy travels!
Turn up hungry! You will get lots of chocolate (all delicious). Sophie is informative, funny and very kind. She was happy to answer all of our very random questions. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review your chocolate tour. Happy to read you had a good time!
Sophia was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour went so quickly because she was so engaging. The tour covered many delicious chocolate shops. Would highly recommend.
Thank you, Sharon to share your experience of our chocolate tour with Sophie. Enjoy the rest of your travels!
Super nice guide who could tell nice stories about the city. We had a private tour because there were no other bookings. Tasted delicious chocolate (products) but actually it is too much chocolate for 1 afternoon. All in all highly recommended!
Thank you for your kind words! Hope you had a nice stay in our city! Dankuwel voor de review. We vonden het alvast fijn om jullie te mogen verwelkomen!
So much fun and we are not beer drinkers. Tiago was fantastic. Great walking tour even in the rain. He explained different chocolate symbols on windows so we knew who won awards when we wanted to purchase chocolate. We each got a bag of chocolate to taste with the beer, then French fries and different mayo tastes, and finally four different beers to samples. A very enjoyable tour and definitely recommend it.
Thank you for leaving a review! Much appreciated.
We were a small group of two families. Our guide was very nice and competent. She responded very well to us and brought us the history of Ghent in an interesting way. Chocolates and chocolate were full and the quality was excellent. Also not so crowded places in Ghent were shown to us A really great experience. Tour and guide are highly recommended
Thank you very much for your warm words and recommendation! We are happy that you enjoyed our tour and guide.
We had the best time with our tour guide Sophie! The meeting point was very clear and we found her right away. We very much enjoyed the walking tour sprinkled with interesting facts about Ghent as well as the history of Belgium. It was very informative and she went out of her way to answer all our questions. And of course the chocolate was delicious! For me personally, it was a little too much. At each stop, there were about three pieces of chocolates so in all about 10 chocolates plus a chocolate waffle and a large hot chocolate. Everything was so amazing but I think providing a to go box would have made the experience a lot more enjoyable. When in Belgium you must try the amazing chocolate and trying it with a guide to explain each unique piece and the history behind each store made it so much better!! I would recommend it.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We will take your tip into consideration and see where we can change things. Much appreciated.
