Salga del puerto de Kardamena, pase por la isla Giali y llegue a Nisyros después de una hora de crucero, donde un autobús espera su llegada para llevarlo al cráter del volcán.
El volcán de la isla de Nisyros es el más joven de Grecia. Es un volcán activo como lo son los de Methana, la isla de Milos y la isla de Santorini. La mayor parte de Nisyros es montañosa, volcánica y muy fértil. La isla está compuesta por formaciones de rocas volcánicas que se formaron por actividad volcánica previa. Las diversas formaciones rocosas (por ejemplo, basalto) se han utilizado como material de construcción en varios edificios como el Palaiokastro y el campanario de la iglesia de Agios Ioannis Theologos ubicada cerca de Nikia. La isla ha sido formada por lava. Las rocas están cubiertas por depósitos piroclásticos y barro volcánico. Hace varios milenios se produjeron dos posibles erupciones, estimadas en unos 25.000 años. El cráter más grande del volcán, llamado Polivotis, tiene un diámetro de 260 my 30 m de profundidad. Hay otros cinco cráteres más jóvenes en la región, el mayor de los cuales es Stefanos, con un diámetro de 30 m y una profundidad de 30 m. El valle que rodea el volcán tiene 2.400 m de largo y 950 m de ancho.
Al regresar al puerto de Nisyros tendrá la oportunidad de visitar la ciudad de Mandraki. Después de un breve paseo por las estrechas calles de casas pintadas de azul y blanco, tendrá tiempo para almorzar (no incluido) o hacer algunas compras o incluso visitar el famoso monasterio Panagia Spiliani antes de embarcar en el barco a las 4:00 p.m. para regresar a Kos.

The one hour boat trip was lovely and Nisyros is a gorgeous little town-very picturesque with winding streets and blue and white houses. Well worth a visit. A little disappointed with the volcano-the drive there was very scenic but the crater was underwhelming.

Nisyros was really cute. The vulacano was cool but not too impressive. The tour was organized really well.
Interesting experience, Nisyros is very beautiful and Caldera vulcano is must see.
Lovely time, a must to do from Kos
The crater was awesome,,but the village of Mandraki was absolutely amazing. They gave us lots of time for lunch and to explore.
The trip was great. Super organized, there was plenty of time available both in the city and at the volcano, and Martha and Katharina did an absolutely fantastic job! Two super nice and funny people, very attentive to the needs of the guests. Very informative design. The city is breathtakingly beautiful! Absolutely recommendable, this trip!
Superb visit well organised and timed to perfection. Martha was a good guide the only problem on the coach up to the volcano the microphone was not clear and we missed a lot of her info about the island. The volcano was impressive even the pungent smell of hydrogen sulphide ( rotten eggs) There is a covered area to sit in the shade. The island of Nisyross is beautiful and the sail on the ferry over took one hour. We were given plenty of free time in the town of Mandraki to explore the narrow streets and visit the monastery of Panagia Spiliana. Plenty of places to eat and rest in the shade with a welcome drink. All together a great visit with excellent organisation.
Great trip, well organised. Volcano itself is really interesting, a great experience. Mastichari town is pretty, not a lot to see there tho but we had a nice early lunch. Martha was a very kind and informative guide. However there were lots of stops for hotel pickups and drop-offs, it took us an hour and 20 mins to get to the harbour and over an hour and a half on the way back - we started/finished in Kos Town
A great day out to see the volcano & experience some of this diverse island. I rented a scooter & explored quite a bit including the Paleokastro, Monastery & the smaller villages which were really welcoming & friendly.
