There’s a walking tour...

There’s a walking tour and one where you ride in the back of a 4x4 truck. Know which one you’re getting! This was the walk, and I LOVED it. Leisurely and informative! Axel (the host/translator) and Marta (the coffee grower) were exceptional. Kind and informative!

Authentic experience for my family

This was my husband‘s favorite experience of the entire trip! He enjoys his coffee, and he very much enjoyed learning about the whole process. Our guide, Axel, met us at the bus station in a neighboring town, as well as the local farmer, Cristobal. He told us all about his crops, growth, care and process while Axel translated. We walked about 40 minutes up the base of Volcan de Agua, passing locals, homes and fields. We learned about flowers and native plants on the way. Both men were thorough in their explanations and answered any questions my husband or inquisitive children asked. The icing on the cake was being invited into the home of Cristobal’s sister. It was an authentic and humbling experience. We peeled shells, roasted and ground beans, and sat around the table sipping the freshest coffee in their great company! Their family engaged my four kids, too. 10/10!

Authentic

It was a wonderful experience through and through. From walking to the coffee farms to entering the farmers home to see how coffee used to be processed, my family and I truly had a wonderful time. If you’re looking for an authentic experience this is the one for you! I’d also recommend wearing hiking boots as some of the walk is uphill.

Our best tour in Guatemala!

This is a great opportunity to learn about coffee directly from the small-tract farmers, who take you all the way from planting to drinking coffee. If you are inquisitive and don’t need to be overly pampered, this is a great opportunity to talk work locals in Spanish and fluent English. Probably the best experience of our multi-stop tour through Guatemala.

Informative, fun, in depth coffee tour

Our tour with Axel and the coffee farmer, Marta, was wonderful! We were a large group and they adjusted things to facilitate that. Definitely wear sturdy shoes for the walk to the coffee field! Axel answered all of our questions about coffee and Guatemalan culture with warmth, knowledge and humor. Marta gave us a warm welcome too and an engaging demonstration of how to grow the plants, and roast and grind the beans. The coffee was delicious. Our tour lasted 3 hours plus--but I'm not sure if that's typical.

The duration depends on each group's interaction, questions, and pace. Most tours last between 2 and 3½ hours, but if guests prefer a shorter experience, we’re happy to adapt it to around 1 to 1½ hours. Thank you for choosing B1 Experience. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Guatemala!

Axel and Cristobal were excellent guides! We enjoyed learning more about the coffee growing and roasting process. We learned a lot about the surrounding area, plants and wildlife, and history of the indigenous people. Roasting, grinding, and brewing the coffee was so fun, and the coffee was fantastic! Great way to spend a morning in Antigua!
