A great afternoon exploring Bratislava! We've done similar tours in other former communist cities and had high expectations. Brano's love for the city was evident; he had a deep understanding of the history and wove in personal stories that added to narrative. Would recommend spending the afternoon with him! He reached out before the tour to see if we needed a different pick up and was kind enough to drop us off at the train station.
Thank you, Nicole :)
It was a family trip to Slovakia and we as a family had a connection to the history of communism. It was fun, informative, interesting and fun to be in an old Skoda! It was one of the best tours in our trip! Highly recommended!
Thank you very much, our pleasure, Grace! :)
Very interesting tour. Shows a lesser-known side of Bratislava from a local’s perspective. Recommended!
Thank you very much, we are happy you enjoyed the tour! :)
We had a fantastic time on the post-communism tour with Brano. He was friendly and very knowledgeable and informative. It was great to get off the beaten track and see some of the city that we would not have seen otherwise. Our tour was in a 1980s VW van which was cool. We got loads of knowledge about the geo-political history of Slovakia and Bratislava itself. Five stars all round - I would highly recommend this tour and specifically Brano who was excellent. 👍
Thank you, Leigh :)
This was the best tour that we have been on in a longtime, so I highly recommend this tour. Richard was a very knowledgeable and informative guide. All stops were interesting. Early in the tour, Richard asked a few questions (presumably to determine what our knowledge base was) and seemed to base his comments on that, so we were able to get into some interesting details. He was also a hockey fan, so we discussed (ice) hockey as well.
Thank you very much, our pleasure! :)
The tour was extremely insightful and gave us a deep understanding of communism, architecture, and how Slovak society evolved during that era. It really helped connect historical events with what you see around the city today. Richard, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. Over the 2.5-hour tour, he shared thoughtful perspectives and detailed insights that you simply wouldn’t get exploring on your own. A special highlight was the experience of riding in a red Škoda hatchback, which truly felt like stepping back into the 1990s and added an authentic touch to the tour. He also treated us to Kofola and some traditional drinks and snacks, which made the experience even more personal and memorable. Overall, this is a highly recommended tour. Visiting these places independently wouldn’t provide the same depth of understanding about Slovak (and former Czechoslovak) history.
Thank you Dhairya :)

Having never traveled to Bratislava or Slovakia before, we were really looking for an experience that would ground us in basic information in an engaging way. This your was perfect for that. Our tour guide, Richard, was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable and worked hard to address the areas in which we were most interested. The tour left us with a must deeper understanding of the city and the country. It was hands down the best thing we did while in Slovakia. I would recommend it to anyone
Thank you very much for your supporting words!
My husband and I did a “Post-Communism Bratislava” tour with Authetic Slovakia and enjoyed it immensely. Our guide was Peter, and he was informative, entertaining and very good company. For 2.5 hours, Peter drove us to various locations in Bratislava, and discussed events that had occurred there, including during the German occupation, the communist period and post-communism. We got a personalized, insightful view of the recent history of Bratislava and learned a lot! The tour was good value, and we highly recommend it.
Thank you very much for your nice words, it was our pleasure :)
Richard our tour guide was very informative, kind and fun. My wife and i had a one day stay and felt we covered a lot of the city. He gave great insights into what life in Bratislava was like. Thanks again Richard!
