We spent 14 days touring Sri Lanka as a family of five and experienced a great mix of culture, scenery and local life. Due to recent floods we missed the Ella train journey, but this didn’t take away from the overall trip. The itinerary was well organised and having a mini van with a private driver was definitely the best way to get around. Our guide and driver, Gayan, was reliable, friendly and very knowledgeable, often suggesting worthwhile detours such as Mini World’s End and moonstone sites. The accommodation was excellent, particularly NH Bentota Ceysands Resort , Amaya Lake and Ella Flower Garden Resort. Highlights for us included the Golden Temple, the spice garden and the village tour. Booking through Hiruni at Pearl Lanka was straightforward, with quick communication and flexibility when changes were needed due to flooding. Overall, a well-run trip that we would happily recommend to anyone planning a visit to Sri Lanka.

We had the most amazing holiday thanks to Pearl Lanka! From the moment of enquiry, Hiruni helped us plan and tailor our itinerary. She was really helpful, responsive and made mostly brilliant choices for us in terms of accommodation and route planning. Our driver, Mr Shanaka (Shan) was the absolute best! Not only was he a brilliant driver, he was also really knowledgeable about pretty much everything! He was really thoughtful, creating special moments such as buying us flowers for our anniversary, and stopping along the road for lovely local food and experiences on our longer journeys. He really got to know us, and made suggestions for things to do that were totally spot on! He also booked specialist guides at certain attractions, who were all brilliant! We had a completely unique trip, planned with care and attention! He was also lovely company, and endlessly patient! I would thoroughly recommend anyone planning a trip to Sri Lanka, to use this company, and ask for Shan as your driver/guide!

Our trip was wonderful. We saw various parts of the country (both sea and mountains) made unforgettable experiences (visits to cultural sites, boat trips on rivers, swimming with turtles, dolphin and whale visas, safaris, etc). Our guide Hashan was really good - he accompanied us throughout our journey, taking care of us, adopting the program and activities to our needs. Thanks to Hashan we learned so many interesting things about Sri Lanka and we could relax and feel pampered. We were really lucky!

The route designed by Pearl Lanka was perfectly balanced: breathtaking temples to start, national parks arranged in increasing “wow” factor, and a few relaxing days before flying home. Whenever we wanted to add or change something, our driver Hashan always found a way to make it happen. He answered all our questions, gave realistic time estimates, and even came to rescue us when we got stuck in the rain—despite our saying we’d manage on our own and him only having our WhatsApp location. As a former backpacker, I really valued the flexibility in the itinerary. There was plenty of room to add personal touches, and when some of us wanted to do something different from the rest of the group, that was no problem at all. If every trip had a Hashan, I’d never bother unpacking my suitcase.

We booked a 15-day tour with Hiruni at Pearl Lanka (Travel Company). We experienced many amazing sites from beaches, temples, towns, world heritage listed historical sites, safari parks, tea plantations, train rides and many more attractions. We booked a four-star hotel experience for our trip and the hotels were very good and some were excellent. More importantly the food and level of service was fantastic at these hotels. One particular evening we had booked a nice villa outside of Kandy. It was a little too far. We called Hiruni and Pearl Lanka and she helped change it that evening with no fuss or cost. Hiruni was always quick to respond on emails throughout our vacation. Pearl Lanka provided us a driver by the name of Priyan Danushka. Priyan was magnificent from the day we arrived until the day we left. We travelled with children and Priyan endeavored to make sure we had the best experience in Sri Lanka based on our families' circumstances. He was very polite, professional, engaging, friendly and nothing was a problem. He would discuss out itinerary with us and gives us tips to further improve our experience within this itinerary. If you were going to book a trip with Pearl Lanka, I would encourage you to request Priyan as your drive/guide. When we arrived, there are numerous slogans throughout Sri Lanka - "Come as a visitor and leave as a friend". This could not be truer about Sri Lanka. The people are just so friendly. We have been traveling for over 40 years usually in group tours and wanted and more personalized tour of Sri Lanka. We found Pearl Lanka and was immediately impressed with Hiruni, she is very professional and dedicated and was able to customize a tour based on our arrival and departure. WhatsApp provided a clear and quick means of communication so nothing was missed. We were completely informed of our itinerary and driver before arrival with no surprises. Our driver/guide was Mr. Shanaka, an experienced guide who made our trip unforgettable. He was an excellent driver and very knowledgeable about everything Sri Lanka making sure we were well looked after through the complete tour. Flexibility was key and he allowed us to make our tour as action packed or relaxing as we wanted. We shared many laughs and were good friends by tours end. I can highly recommend Pearl Lanka based on our experience.

My wife and I had a fantastic time visiting Sri Lanka and doing this tour, which we recommend highly. Hiruni at Pearl Lanka was most helpful and arranged for us to have an extra day/night at Negombo at the start of the tour so we wouldn't be too jet-lagged after flying in from London, and this worked well for us. Our driver (Mr Romesh) was excellent and we went everywhere we wanted, with sufficient flexibility to do or not do things as the mood took us. In the event we did - and thoroughly enjoyed - everything except we skipped the final safari as we were feeling a bit tired that day. We opted for five star hotels everywhere (except in Anuradhapura, where there was only a four star hotel available), and the hotels were five star by anyone's standard. My wife and I have travelled all round the world and we found the five star hotels in Sri Lanka rivalled those anywhere - and the one we stayed at in Kandy (The Golden Crown) served some of the best food we have had anywhere. We opted for half board (supper and breakfast) and this worked out very well. The only thing required was some careful budgeting, because the cost of admission to sites and safaris is not included in the package price, and while you pay for them in Sri Lankan rupees, the costs are initially worked out in US dollars. We were given a price list in advance so it wasn't too difficult, but it did mean doing a bit of maths. Changing money during and at the end of the trip was straightforward. All hotels we used had UK electric sockets which made things easy. All in all, one of the best trips we have had in a long time, and we are widely travelled. Visiting Sri Lanka in general and visiting it with Pearl Lanka in particular is highly recommended.
