Tour de 1 día a Alejandría desde El Cairo

A long but enjoyable drive with our very nice driver Rashid. Once there we were taken on a tour with our excellent guide Mohamed who explained the history of the places with great knowledge. A very pleasant day out.

Trip to Alexandria Review – Disappointing Guided Experience Our day trip to Alexandria started promisingly. The driver was excellent—friendly, accommodating, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the journey. Unfortunately, the guided portion of the tour fell far short of expectations. We booked an all-inclusive package that included a complete guided tour of Alexandria with lunch. What we received was essentially a self-guided visit with a person who happened to be labeled as a “guide.” Our guide showed little professionalism or engagement. She shared very little historical information about Alexandria and seemed more interested in chatting with her fellow tour-guide colleagues than in looking after our group. For long stretches she simply left us to wander and take photos on our own. It was unclear whether she actually possessed much knowledge of the city’s history. We returned from Alexandria knowing almost nothing new about the places we had visited and will now have to research them ourselves on Wikipedia. Paying for a guide who provided virtually no guiding was extremely disappointing. Even the “all-inclusive” aspect was misleading—we still had to pay extra for soft drinks and other items. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (the Library of Alexandria) itself is impressive, but once again there was no guide. We had to explore the different levels completely on our own. Overall: The driver was great, the library is worth seeing, but the guided tour and value for money were poor. Tour operator Emo Tours should seriously consider using more knowledgeable and professional guides. Rating: 2/5 – Not worth the money if you’re expecting an actual guided experience.

Our driver, Ali was great at dealing with Egyptian traffic in both Cairo and Alexadria. Our guide, Reem was very knolegable, clear and frendly. The tour and seafood lunch was great! We will use Viator again!

Alexandria is not worth the trip from Cairo. Lots of driving to see minimal attractions. The catacombs and the Roman Theatre are small scale and boring. The library is interesting but it’s a library. Alexandria is trying to sell itself as a tourist site when it’s really just a tired ancient city.

Overrated. Can plan to see these things in Alexandria if staying in the city and have nothing else to do . Definitely not worth the time of a travel from Cairo to Alexandria to see these sites . Lunch option was selected but the option of lunch was really bad . The tour guide had some local tie up with a very cheap shady restaurant that gave us only one undercooked shawarma each which was not well prepared. To go a to a different place the tour guide said it would be extra money . Never had such a bad experience of lunch from a viator booked package .

How wonderful our driver and tour guide were they did everything to ensure we were comfortable and safe and we did not feel rushed it was an awesome day

We booked this tour the evening before the tour, and the tour operator confirmed promptly. We just booked the car + driver (without a guide), and it was perfect. The driver (Mostafa) arrived pick us up at the hotel on time. He was very friendly and, even though he didn’t speak much English, he spoke some words and used Google Translate to communicate with us. He drove us to Alexandria with a quick stop for coffee half way. Once in Alexandria, he drove us to all the spots and gave us enough time to visit around. English wasn’t a barrier, communication via Google Translate was good enough. Once we visited everything in Alexandria, Mostafa drove us back to our hotel in Cairo. He didn’t ask for a tip. The tour was great, and I would definitely recommend it.

I purposely booked this trip on a western platform rather than a local site in Egypt in hopping the people who are involved in the tour can speak some English. The driver sent to us for the entire day did not speak one word of English. The tour's itinerary clearly stated that we should have 1 hour at each tourist attraction for sightseeing, however, the driver always rushed us and only allowed 15 to 25 minutes for each site. The trip itinerary stated that the trip should end around 19:00 and our trip was shortened to be completed at 14:00. Overall the experience was not a great one due to language barriers, the driver's rushing attitude etc. I was also asked by the driver to pay for all parking costs directly (not sure if I should as I never paid parking for other similar trips).

Before jumping into the subject, I asked myself WHY I had chosen Alexandria as my first “ Tour” in Egypt . Not only have I been obviously fascinated by the blend of Greek & Egyptian cultures, but also somehow I was anxious to eyewitness to which extent & how this “ melting pot “ has endured until our present day. Fortunately, Kom El Shokafa remains there to remind us upon those glory days. To my eye, it was the tour’s best sight, anyway, everything regarding this complete tour was enticing & cleverly planned to give us the best impression, saving time to enjoy all the spots, as much as possible. I mean, everything beyond perfection - thanks to the dear driver ( Mr Miyse) and above all, the highly professional, highly talented & perfectionist local tour guide the dear Ms Dinayra. She is a prodigy into a multitude of senses - the dear guide knows everything by her heart and conveyed as much as she could into perfect English. The Citadel, the remarkable modern library & the lighthouse are also amazing and fascinating places to visit. Moreover, excellent experiences at the restaurant ; Egyptian vegan meals at their best - and at the selected souvenirs’ store ( money saving & high quality at the same spot. Thanks a lot to the dear Guide - to the highly skilled driver & once more to the entire Viator’s team for one more amazing tour & a riveting collection of pictures & memories.
