¡No hace falta adivinar!

A real pleasure learning about this part of Tokyo and its food and history

Yuki was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a delightful few hours with her exploring the Buddhist temple first and then the fish market, including sampling delicious Japanese food.

Fun food tour of Tsukiji with Yoko

We did an 8.30am tour on a Tuesday morning for approximately 3 hours which was great fun. We would have preferred a Wednesday but learned the market is essentially closed on Wednesdays! Don’t eat before you go! You will be eating all morning! We met a number of Japan Wonder Travel Guides around 8.15am out the front of the Tsukiji Hongwan-ji Temple who were all friendly and spoke excellent English so it was easy to work out who we would have guiding us for the morning. Yoko took us and another family (6 people in total) into the temple for a quick look, then into the fish market. All stalls were trading and it got busier as it got later so we felt lucky to have Yoko showing us around. We got to taste excellent fish cakes, beautiful summer fruit, wasabi sesame seeds, sweet omelette and freshly grilled wagyu. Yoko also purchased some fish and fruit as she showed us around and we were able to share these on the rooftop at picnic tables which was a treat! To finish our tour we were taken to a lovely restaurant where the chef prepared a sushi bowl and we were then able to make our own and eat that too! This tour is an excellent way to taste lots of different foods and learn where the better shops are, and a really nice introduction to Japan/Tokyo. We stayed on after the tour and bought matcha and a whisk etc, personalised chopsticks with our names written in Japanese (on the spot) and other trinkets and gifts. Thank you Yoko for a great morning!

It was a great tour with...

It was a great tour with our guide Yoshio! It was more than just food sampling but there was plenty of very tasty treats. He started the tour with a visit to the Buddhist temple we met in front of. We also when to another shrine later in the tour. It was just our family group and he offered a nice break to cool down and have a refresher indoors (visited in July). He was very friendly and informative.

Tokyo Fish Market Tour

Small group tour of the Tokyo Fish Market with food samples provided was an exceptional experience. Our guide (Kazu) was genuinely interested in our questions and requests, and tailored our experience to our interests, providing a unique and individualized experience. The length of the tour was perfect, allowing us plenty of time to return to those shops we were most interested in. We sampled foods that we never would have tried had we not taken this tour. Surprisingly, I love fish cakes (and I don’t typically eat fish)! The atmosphere was bustling with activity, however we never felt rushed or overwhelmed. Our guide set the perfect pace.

The food was great and Nobu was even better! We really appreciated the diversity from the temple to the fish market. Nobu gave us great recommendations. Our favorite was the wagyu but everything was great. The experience inside MORITAYA was lovely. We appreciated the variety in tastings and admit we tried food we otherwise wouldn’t have.
