La Catedral de los Santos Pedro y Donato se encuentra en la colina de San Pietro, en la parte alta de la ciudad. Descubriremos este increíble edificio, su historia y algunas curiosidades!
La Basílica de San Domenico se encuentra en la plaza del mismo nombre de Arezzo y es uno de los edificios sagrados más importantes de la ciudad. Su construcción comenzó en 1275 y se completó durante el siglo XIV, gracias a la financiación de las familias Ubertini y Tarlati, las dos familias más influyentes durante la Edad Media en Arezzo. En enero de 1276, aunque todavía incompleta, la iglesia acogió el que se considera el primer cónclave de la historia de la Iglesia católica.
El Museo Casa Vasari es una espléndida residencia renacentista situada en el corazón de Arezzo. Fue comprado y decorado personalmente por Giorgio Vasari, un famoso pintor, arquitecto e historiador del arte, conocido por su obra fundamental “Las vidas de los más excelentes pintores, escultores y arquitectos”.
La Basílica de San Francesco en Arezzo, con su fachada inacabada, alberga un patrimonio artístico extraordinario. Entre las obras más famosas, destaca el ciclo de frescos La historia de la verdadera cruz de Piero della Francesca, una obra maestra universal que decora la capilla Bacci, encargada por la acaudalada familia Arezzo que tomó su nombre.
Piazza Grande, situada en el centro histórico de Arezzo, es un lugar icónico y fascinante, conocido por su particular forma trapezoidal y plano inclinado. La plaza data del siglo XII, pero sufrió transformaciones significativas en el siglo XVI.
La Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta es una antigua iglesia bautismal urbana, cuyos orígenes se remontan a entre los siglos V y VI, tal vez construida sobre los restos de un edificio pagano. Más tarde, alrededor del siglo IX, se construyó una estructura más grande. En el siglo XII, esta iglesia medieval primitiva también fue demolida para dejar espacio a un nuevo edificio de estilo románico.
La Fortaleza Medici de Arezzo, situada en el corazón del Parque Prato, representa uno de los ejemplos más importantes de la arquitectura militar renacentista en la Toscana. Los orígenes de la fortaleza se remontan al periodo medieval, cuando la zona ya era utilizada como punto estratégico para el control del territorio circundante.
Esta estructura, construida entre finales del siglo I y la primera mitad del siglo II d.C., refleja la influencia romana en la ciudad, ya heredera de la civilización etrusca. A string of uninteresting facts without narrative coherence all delivered with the tone of a frat boy. Couldn’t even finish it, 10/10 do NOT recommend.
Everything was fine; it was comprehensive.
We were very happy in the end with the tour even though we thought we would be meeting at a certain spot and get headsets. We were able to maneuver through the tour using our own telephone and Link that was provided. It was very nice to do this at our own pace
I strongly recommend to skip this company and find a better provider. Yesterday we used a different company for our day at Assisi and loved the experience. Today we decided to do an audio guide at Arezzo. Never again with this company. The narration was annoying with unnecessary background music. Ok. What really bothered us was: The webpage interface sucked. We could not scroll up to see the map or we would be kicked out, so that was a lot of wasted time. But the worst was that the guide sent you all over the place. Have a 2 minute summary of a place, most of them places you mérito pay to get in. No, I did not expect to be able to get in for free everywhere. But I think it was a waste of my time to walk all over the place just to see the outside of buildings. So I do not recommend this tour. There are better versions with better interface and better itineraries.
Hello, we’re sorry you didn’t like the guide. We find it a bit odd, actually, because… you also used our Assisi guide and you liked that one 😅! That one also had background music and the interface was exactly the same, so it’s really hard for us to respond to this review 🙂. I found myself very well, easy and intuitive to use, synthetic. I would buy it again if I had to do another day trip.
We learned & discovered so many fun historical facts by doing this walking tour. We also took the mini train, but we learned more walking on foot.
The audio tour was one of the highlights of our long weekend in Arezzo. Start at the Cathedral of Arezzo. Good explanation with a sense of humor. Good to listen to. The tour is like a puzzle tour, very fun to do. From birthplace, to beautiful square to fortified fortress, within 3 hours you are much wiser with beautiful background info. Matteo thanks
I think the guide included 7 key places around Arezzo but (with 4 kids in tow) it was really handy that we could dip in and out and pick and choose which ones to focus on and when. The information on each place was very informative but not too long and it was really useful to have the choice of listening and/or reading. We didn't manage to follow the route suggested but it looked really well thought out and logically planned. Considering how much information was included, and the useful map, I was impressed at the price and would definitely consider using this again.
Positive experience, the tour to Arezzo really interesting. The clear and exhaustive explanations. Tomorrow we will be in Siena and I plan to take the audlguida there too. Recommended
