I am so glad I found this group by searching Free Walking Tours in Cannes. Our guide, Fran, was friendly, engaging, easy to tour with. She recommended the oldest resturant in cannes. A French Restaurant dating back to 1860! I highly recommend this tour and so glad I found it!
Guide showed up 45 minutes late. Not a good way to start. Not really anything exciting about the tour. Nothing very memorable about Cannes.
Nice not complicated tour, it was hot day the guide was trying to use the shade as much as possible .
Lucia is an Amazing Guide! She is incredibly knowledgeable of history and culture. And she shares it with such enthusiasm and passion. She was also very mindful to have us stand in shady spots while she shared with us such wonderful moments of history and facts. She also gave such insightful information about places to eat and shop so we could continue to enjoy Cannes after the tour… I could have listened to her all day!!
We were late as the directions were very unclear. I would suggest meeting down near the port. When we finally found the location, the guide had already gone. We were very disappointed
Hi there, Sorry to hear that you cannot found the meeting point which is clearly indicated on the experience. There's not only people coming out of cruiseship joining the tour, plenty of tourists travel by train to our destination. The meeting point is not even a km away. The guide always wait at least 5min before starting the introduciton of the tour which last about 10min before the group start moving around 15-20min after the start of the tour. We are sincerely sorry but you can't blame us while we give a proper Google Maps address link. You can also contact the guide to reach them on the way as they quite often share their instant location to people who are late to the tour. Hope you still enjoy the French Riviera and Cannes. All the best. Happy travels :-)
Had a lovely walking tour with Geoffrey around Cannes on Thursday 17th July. He provided lots of historical and interesting information. We couldn't understand why if this a 'free walking tour ' when we paid tripadvisor £52. The booking confirmation also confirmed the tour was free and according to Geoffrey he wasn't paid by tripadvisor or viator, so this is very concerning. We felt compelled to pay our excellent guide directly on the day and feel tripadvisor or viator should refund us or confirm a payment was made to the guide. We look forward to your response. Karen
Booked the review; then found out that it is also available as a free guided walking tour. The tour guide's explanations were not up to the standard of other guides we've had.
Hi Victor, Tip based tours are a concept where you rate and tip as you think the guide deserve to be. The amount you paid on this platform is based on an average tip that people leave along with the platform commission of course, so it is only a fair amount spent in the end (which is exposed to high french taxes and high cost of living in the area). We are still providing an alternative to tours 10times more expensive :-) Nothing is free nowadays and the guides are trying to make a living from sharing their passion to the city. The guide on your tour was new to the role that's probably why you had this feeling, he might not have said it as didn't wanted to be judged before the start. We all need to start somewhere and even with training, it takes a bit to get fully comfortable with the role. He stll have his guide license which recently took him about 2 years of studies. Of course as far as it is disappointing to us that you didn't had the ideal tour, we appreciate to consider those factors. Sorry again for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding. All the best. Happy travels :-)
Isa was excellent and I really enjoyed her tour! We toured on a Tuesday afternoon and there were about 6 of us. She navigated the Cannes crowds with ease and provided a nice history along the way. She found shady areas when she could so we didn't get too hot. I learnd a lot and highly recommend this to others.
A great walking tour around Cannes, visiting all the major attractions. I would recommend this if you're visiting the area.
We had a very frustrating experience with this tour company, booked via GetYourGuide, and unfortunately we wouldn’t recommend them to others. Our day started with a planned walking tour of Cannes at 10:30am. At 9:44, just 44 minutes before the start time, we received a WhatsApp message from the guide informing us that the tour was cancelled due to an unforeseen cancellation. We were already on the train heading to Cannes without any preparation as we had a guide booked. According to the usual 24-hour cancellation policy, the company would have already received full payment from the person who dropped out – so it’s difficult to understand why the tour wasn’t run anyway. We expressed our disappointment, but were simply told it was “beyond their control.” The guide apologised, but there was no attempt to find an alternative solution, make up for the poor handling, or salvage the experience in any way. It felt careless and dismissive. Since we were already en route to Cannes, we decided to make the most of it and ended up using ChatGPT to create our own self-guided walking tour. It turned out to be informative, flexible, and something we’ll likely use again – it was reliable, detailed, and didn’t cancel last minute. Not recommended.
Hi Karolina, I'm extremely disappointed myself that you had a negative experience with us. As you can see from our previous reviews, people have been more than happy in general with what we are delivering. I understand that a few things went wrong on our booking and we sincerely want to apologies for it. As the creator of the company, there's nothing who matters more to me that the visitors experience so I do share the disappointment. Firstly, I want to apologies for our guide actions. This guide is fairly new to the company and wasn't aware so much how to deal with those situations. I have worked again with her to help her understand how we should act in those situations. Regarding the fact that we do receive payment upfront, that's not the case for most of our tours. The walking tour is a tip based tour so we don't get any payment upfront until it is booked through OTA that need us to charge upfront. In this case, the other people booked were not prepaid. Regarding the tasting tour, in general people really love the experience and the very local tastings along the way. I guess your morning experience has had an impact on how you received this activity. The guide as I said is fairly new and even if she has been trained she can't perform as good straigh away as our other guides. Regarding pricing, as you have booked through an OTA, I'd like to bring to your attention that those platforms charge bigger and bigger commissions (we are talking more than 25-30%) which also pump up the price. That's why we always recommend to book direct which will have cost you 70 pounds instead of more than 85. Anyway, please accept again our sincere apologies as whatever the reasons things are not working out in the best way for our visitors, we will work towards improving ourselves and our new team member. We are also working at the moment in building an audio version of our tours based on GPS location that will also give our customers a backup solution in case things happen and we can't deliver our services. That's important that we cover this very unusual times with some alternatives to make sure our clients are looked after and can still enjoy their discovery of our wonderful cities on the coast. We still wish you had an amazing time on our stunning French Riviera. If you ever come back to this part of the world, please get in touch and I will look personnally into treating you to something better. All the best, Cedric and the WhatToDoRiviera Team
