Tour a pie de 1,5 horas por Oxford City y la Universidad

We had a fantastic tour of the university. Our tour guide was incredible! (I can’t remember his name but he did our 4pm tour on 4/18) He was very knowledgeable, explained everything so well, and was entertaining at the same time. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour!

The tour guide was not happy about the hot weather, he made a number of complaints about it. I was told off for moving slightly (I have hearing aids & tried to move closer so I could hear him in a noisy street) while he was counting the tour numbers. He was quite irritable and grumpy for most of the tour. He knew quite a lot about Oxford, but treated the group as though we were all quite ignorant, repeating frequent comments like "Do you get it?", "Do you understand?", "You've got to understand...", "You've got to get it into your heads...". Speaking as a very experienced lecturer, teacher and academic, I am very aware that these kinds of patronising closed questions and comments are not conducive to learning. I have 7 years of Uni study, including a Bachelor Degree, Dip Ed and Masters Degree, and a considerable amount of my study has been in history and literature related to material he outlined. I was shocked when he told the group that William Herbert, 3rd Earl of Pembroke had paid for Shakespeare to write a lot of his poems and some of his plays at Oxford Uni - this was entirely news to me, and I know quite a lot about Shakespeare and his works. I have subsequently done some research to find out if this is true, but on the contrary, I have found the reverse! He was clearly a very big Tolkien fan, which my husband and I are not. Tolkien excelled in sport while at Oxford University, but the Nobel literature prize jury rated Tolkien as a second rate storyteller, which is how we both rate him as well. We appreciate that some of the group found the extensive information on Tolkien and Harry Potter interesting because they may enjoy Hollywood blockbusters, but it was not very interesting for us. Positive aspects of the walking tour were that he recommended a number of places to visit, with their opening times, and he gave the group more than 1 1/2 hours, even though the day was hot.

The 1.5 hour tour offered a great overview of Oxford and the university. We were able to go into a college and its chapel. Leonor was a very personable and informative guide.

Our guide was not only knowledgeable and full of interesting facts and details, he offered the interesting perspective of a current student. He was respectful and willing to answer philosophical questions about the pros and cons of the different colleges. We would take a tour with him again,

We had amazing tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and animated. He provided the history of Oxford but also gave fun facts about current day books and movies that take place in Oxford Because we were a small group we go up to go places others did not.

An excellent tour with a great overview of the Oxford College and Tutorial system. Our guide Jeremy was informative and able to answer all our questions. He shared a number of anecdotes as well as numerous stories and topical details on various television and film locations. Highly recommended.

It was a great experience! Our tour guide Lunan was very informative and showed us around the University explaining great histories and oxford traditions. Our family had great time.

I would like a refund. This tour felt like a scam. We were at the meeting point at the appointed time; we have gps so we know we were in the right spot. There was only one guide there at the appropriate time and 5+ minutes afterwards, so it was “your” guy. It was so sophomoric. I spent 75$ more or less for a tour guide who barely introduced himself and then started a tour without providing an overview, and instead treated like a prospective student tour. When it was clear we were underwhelmed (who cares what the student menus are?) he tried to pivot to history, but it was discombobulated and the painfully obvious - again with no frame. It was as though we were experiencing an AI generated tour. We left, and later caught the end of a professional tour - a world of difference. I would like to be reimbursed because we feel completely taken. How could this have popped up to the top of a Trip Advisor list? I look forward to a human reply.

Our guide was very knowledgeable, personable, and entertaining, and gave us various options to customize the tour to our liking. Unlike some other guides we had during our trip to England, she spoke very clearly so we had no trouble hearing her. She also gave us a good suggestion to do walking tours of Oxford at different times of day, to maximize the variety of things that are available to see, and we plan to do that if we visit Oxford again.
