Anna was super knowledgeable. She has not prepared a regular tour, on the contrarary she showed us unique spots on the city with tons of cool information! Our 2 hours tour was full of history, fun and lots of steps.
This was truly my favorite excursion I have done on my now 2 trips to Amsterdam. Anna gave me such wonderful cultural insight that I was then able to use as a lens for the rest of my stay. It was the first thing I did after getting off the plane and I highly recommend going early in your own trip. I learned so much about Amsterdam’s history, city planning, architecture and cultural perspectives. Afterwords, I was able to walk around the city with such a deeper understanding to so much that I saw. I liked Anna so much I even booked an additional bike tour with her around the northern countryside.
Anna was a fantastic guide - full of super interesting facts and insights that gave us so much information about the history of Jordaan and the Nine Streets. We left feeling inspired and excited to continue to explore the city.
From early booking, planning and communication to the conclusion of our three-hour tour, Anna provided us with a well-rounded and very detailed tour of Amsterdam. She led us confidently in a way that only a local could and we appreciated all her work and knowledge. We connected with her humor and her ability to connect with our different personalities. From the historical entrance to the city, we walked and learned the early navigational, architectural and geographical history of Amsterdam and its place in the world. Then as we explored further into the city and over the dams (and around the bikes) we learned about the many contributors to the city’s rich and varied past; from artists, ship builders, guild members, traders, leaders, and more. What made this tour so wonderful was how Anna was able to personalize our tour with stops at sites and sharing stories of Amsterdam’s incredible Jewish history - beyond the Anne Frank house. She even made time for stops along the way for snacks and ended the tour with more ideas for exploring her city beyond her tour. We left feeling like we had gotten to know Amsterdam in a truly unique and personal way and we would absolutely recommend Anna to anyone coming to Amsterdam.
By the time I met Anna, I felt as if we should be old friends. In our traveling group, we had so many logistical changes of date, time and number of people. Anna was cheerfully accommodating and helpful at every turn. On the tour, the pacing was great. We paused when we wanted to, but she kept us on track to ensure our personalized tour was complete. If you like a dry wit…Anna is a great choice for you! Knowledgeable. Personable. Great English communication. What more could you ask for?
We had a great tour with Anna. She was easy to communicate with before our tour and gave us an easy meeting point. She listened to our specific interests and gave us a couple options of what to see. She was very informative and kept us interested throughout the tour. We learned so much and really think we got a good feel for the history and current culture of the city. We would highly recommend Anna for any tour.
We have used many guides all over Europe, Anna was the best!… Interesting, informed and entertaining to be sure! We will book with her again.
Anna tells the history of Amsterdam in any easy style, and with some humour, giving real relevance and interest to the building and surroundings of the inner city.
Anna was an outstanding guide — knowledgeable, engaging, and full of fascinating stories. The walking tour gave us a rich understanding of Amsterdam’s architecture and history, complete with a delightful chocolate treat. In the afternoon, we booked the Rijksmuseum with Anna and toured the museum, where she brought Rembrandt’s Night Watch, Vermeer’s masterpieces, and dramatic sea battles with the British vividly to life. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a deeper connection with the city!
Anna is a wonderful tour guide with a wealth of knowledge of the history, architecture and culture of Amsterdam. She is able to answer every question irrespective of the content with insight and clarity.
