Fantastic Luxor trip when it happened

Trip started off poorly when the day we initially booked onto was cancelled, and we were only notified at 5:30am after already getting up and waiting 30 minutes for the transfer. However, the trip took place the following day and absolutely made up for it. The experience was incredible, and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and was able to convey some complex Egyptian history in a way that made sense to everybody. The heat in Luxor is incredible and strongly recommend people both dress sensibly and take a good level of water with them. The small size of the group (ours was 6), meant it was very easy to always hear what the guide was saying and meant it felt far more personal (we saw some tour groups of 20+ and they couldn't hear anything).

Fantastic

Bob our guide was excellent and the excursion overall was really good. Not for the faint hearted as it is a long journey there and back. Our drivers were really good and this made the experience less tiring. A long day full of brilliant experiences.

ATTENTION FRAUD

Had booked this tour from Germany and were looking forward to it. In the morning at 5am we should be picked up. My girlfriend and I sat in the lobby from 4:45 a.m. waiting for our pickup. (As agreed in the booking confirmation) After contacting us several times via mail, TripAdvisor and telephone without any response, we left the lobby at 6:30 a.m. I had to ask for the money back through support and Paypal. Kudos to TripAdvisor at 11 o'clock the same day I had my money back. Unfortunately, the day was ruined. To date, no Enterprise reaction or apology. Clearly FINGER WAY

Truly Amazing

I have to say our day trip to Luxor was amazing. Our driver, Machmood (sorry if spelt incorrectly) was great, very informative on the drive which was a few hrs long. We also have to say a big thanks to our guide Wael whos knowledge on Egyptology was amazing. We started at Karnack Temple, then boat ride on Nile, this was extra but we were informed of this upfront and its something we are unlikley to do again. Then we had lunch, followed by tour of Valley of the Kings. It truly is an amazing place to visit. It does get extremely hot which can be overwhelming so make sure you have plenty of sunscreen and water. There are lots of people trying to sell stuff and its best to keep your eyes down and move on quickly if you do not intend to buy anyghing, this may seem rude but we were advised to do this or we would be inundated with sellers. Thanks again to Wael and Machmood for making our day so wonderful.

Well worth the long journey. Amazing experience !

So pleased we didn't miss this - it was a present for my husband's 75th Birthday, and he absolutely loved it . Indescribable - you have to experience it. We included a short boat trip on the Nile, which was lovely.

Worth every penny! The guide was so...

Worth every penny! The guide was so knowledgeable and helpful. A tiring day but it wasn't just seeing the sights - temple of Carnack etc. It was the drive through Luxor which was an education and the unplanned boat trip on the NIle for 10 was brilliant. Egyptio Tours did us proud

Very tiring long ride and a rushing guide!

Picked up from our hotel at 4am and were the first to be picked up and then the coach collected the rest of the passengers from other hotels to make the coach full, it took over 2 hours to get all passengers before it could set off to Luxor. It was a very tiring long journey! At Luxor, we started off by visiting the Karnak Temple and our guide was us rushing us to visit other locations within the temple without giving us enough time to soak in the sights or take photos. Then we're taken to a Papyrus shop with the aim of purchasing their goods, but no one bought anything. After the crossing the Nile river, to have our lunch at their partner Crocodile restaurant where nearly everyone hated the poor quality good. For the afternoon part of the programme, we're taken to an Alabaster souvenir shop. Later on, we're taken to Hatshepsut temple, the quide was again rushing us and then finally to the Valley of the Kings, where we visited tombs of the three Ramses, can't remember their titles, again we we're allowed about 10 minutes each on each tomb. The last sight was, Colossi of Memnon, the least impressive. The guide was advertising for Banana Island as the optional last trip, which was not part of the package and nearly everyone fell for the trick and paid £10 pp and those we're not interested had to stay behind. We also paid. It was one of the worst trip and the price did not justify the poor experience. It was a just banana farm with a caged small crocodile that a keeper tries to entertain the visitors by tapping it with a stick and the reptile hissing. On the way back, we hired a Taxi, once we’re in Hurghada rather than having the coach drop us off, which would have taken another over an hour! Don’t pay more than £40 per person for this kind of trip with this package, though Banana Island is extra on top of this, honestly it’s not worth it.

WELL WORTH THE LONG TRIP!

We did the day trip to Luxor during our stay in Hurghada (23rd November to 30th November) with Egyptio Tours. It was a very long trip but it was well worth the travel. The mini bus that we travelled in was clean and tidy but it got uncomfortable after all that time on board even though we had a stop for about 20 minutes which converted to 35 minutes Egyptian time! The trip is advertised as a 3 hour trip. However, it took 4 hours 15 mins to get there and just over 5 hours for the return trip! The guide spoke really good English and was excellent as he took the time to explain things throughout the trip. The buffet lunch was ok and was included in the price so you just paid for your drinks at the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and the toilet facilities were good. We both really enjoyed the trip and felt that it was good value for the money. However, there are just a few points to note before you book the trip. Firstly, if you do the Nile trip it will cost you an extra 200EGP each (about £10). Secondly, the admission to the Valley of the Kings only covers you to enter 3 tombs. If you want to enter more than 3 you will need to buy extra site entrance tickets at 160EGP per person (about £8). Thirdly, if you want to take pictures inside the tombs you will need to purchase a photography licence which will set you back 300EGP per camera (about £15). Unfortunately, this also only covers you for 3 tombs. So if you want to enter the other tombs and take pictures inside them, then you will you need to purchase extra entrance tickets and also need to purchase an extra photographic licence! Fourthly, if you want to go into the Tutankhamun tomb you will need to pay an extra 200EGP per person (about £10). You are not allowed to take any pictures at all inside the Tutankhamun tomb! Finally, there are a couple of stops on this trip which are basically just shops! The first one is a shop trying to sell you drawings made on parchment and the second is a stone ware shop trying to sell you stone vases and ornaments etc. It’s a real pity that they do this as it eats into the extra time that you could spend at the various sites. Overall it was a really good experience and was great value for the money. It was just a pity that so much valuable time is wasted during those unnecessary stops to try and get you to buy unwanted things!
