The walk through the Tortuguero area both by boat and on foot was amazing. The guides are very experienced and explain many interesting things Everything you see is beautiful, very careful. It's the utmost respect for nature.
Amazing experience. The best in my life The guide, Kendell, was very expert. He jokes a lot and achive that all the team was working together. Incredible views and great landscape.
All in all a great experience! Great breakfast in Exploradores Outdoors before leaving for Tortuguero. The journey to Tortuguero was beautiful, the people at Roots Tours were very helpful in showing us to our hotel. Liah’s Hotel was a fine place to stay, and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast was very nice with fresh fruit. The canoe tour was beautiful despite the torrential rain and our guide was very knowledgeable. The nature walk was also lovely. Topping it off with the river rafting which was a phenomenal experience. Worth the price for the experience!
We had a fantastic experience with the rafting and all of the included tours. However our experience was not the same at the hotel. Firstly, the sliding window did not lock and the ladies were very accommodating and we were then given another room. The second room had visible damp on the walls and had a strong smell of mold. Both rooms were not clean and the showers both had exposed electrical wires in them, therefore we did not use them. In the second room the shower was not cleaned as someone had left hair ties in it and the toilet had obviously not been cleaned as there were marks on the inside of its recent use. There should be a much higher standard of accommodation for the price of this trip.
Exploradores Outdoors makes it so easy to travel to Tortuguero! The transfers were easy and we loved our stay in Tortuguero. The town is so cute with a lot of culture! Our stay at La Casona was great! The morning kayak ride and afternoon hike were fun and full of animal sightings. The turtle nesting at night was so magical! This was our first time white water rafting and Roberto made us feel so safe! It was a lot of fun and exhilarating! The last day is a long travel day to get to/from the rafting location but we didn't mind. You can sleep on the buses but prepare to be sore the next day! Highly recommend this tour!
We had a great experience with this tour. Tours in Tortuguero through Costa Rica Roots Tours were top notch and our family (teens ages 18, 16, 14) loved our day rafting with Roberto. The guides on this trip worked so well together. Roberto was knowledgable about rafting and we always felt safe. He also knew about the plants and animals we saw while on the water. He had all of us laughing much of the trip. Our transfers were smooth and on time. We enjoyed our breakfasts and lunch at the Exploration Center in Squirres. We learned about Exploradores Outdoors from friends who had done the overnight rafthing trip. There wasn't availability for our family on that trip so we opted for the tours in Tortuguero and loved our experience there. Exploration center was very clean, plenty of changing stalls.
Incredible, exhilarating and safe! I booked the Tortuguero and Pacuare white water rafting trip and had so much fun. I am a solo female traveler and felt very well taken care of by Exploradores. It was the best decision to use them to travel from La Fortuna to Tortuguero to Puerto Viejo. Transporation along each point was on time and comfortable and the drivers were very kind. The rafting part was soooo much fun. It had rained hard the night before so we had very big level 4 drops. I am not very experienced at rafting so I was a bit nervous but the two Robertos made us feel very safe. They explained what do to on the river very well and their equipment was in great shape. Roberto with the green eyes was my specific guide and it was clear he understood the river and the capabilities of those in our boat. He steered us to maximize adventure for what we could handle and avoided some routes that may have been too dangerous for us beginners. I WILL ABSOLUTELY book with Exploradores again if I return. I recommend stretching before and preparing to be sore afterwards. Thankfully I was headed to Puerto Viejo afterwards for relaxation and massages! 🤣
We originally signed up for the 3 day Tortuguero expedition without the rafting, but on the 2nd day we asked for a last minute change to do the rafting and the staff was super helpful and let us change, which I really appreciated. Our experience was awesome, the staff was all really accommodating, and the rafting was one of the coolest experiences of my life. The one thing I will say is that there's honestly not a ton to do in Tortuguero when it's not turtle nesting season because so much of the national park is not open to visitors, so there is a lot of down time the first day (which is fine, because the hotel we stayed at, La Casona, had a nice pool and little lounge area that we relaxed at). However, the 3 hour canoe ride we went on the second day was incredible (we saw SO much wildlife) and the guided tour on foot through the park was also amazing. I am glad we did the option with the rafting at the end though, because without it I think the last day would have been a little boring. Also, I really appreciate how helpful the company is about transportation - one of the things that drew us was the ability to be picked up in Arenal and dropped off in San Jose (they have other options as well), but that was a big win. Breakfast was great too. Overall, I highly recommend this tour company (especially the rafting!!)
