The lesson is a perfect balance of learning through explanation and through application. After outlining the history and geometric and philosophic principles behind Ikebana, the instructor guides you towards creating an individualistic flower arrangement.
I loved my class. I learned a lot and had a chance to create my own flower arrangement. My teacher obviously loved what she was teaching, and was so supportive and enthusiastic. It was a highlight for me in Tokyo! I highly recommend it.
This was an amazing experience where I learned so much and have a new appreciation for the process of arranging flowers.
This was a great experience - the teachers were kind and patient and we learned a lot about ikebana. The location was easy to find and all the materials were supplied to us. The instructors even let us know about an ikebana show that we went to the next day and it was incredible!
I had an amazing time attending the class! The teachers were great and I learned a lot! It was a great birthday present to myself 😄
My Ikebana class experience was amazing! The very patient, kind, and knowledgeable teachers taught me so much and made learning the flower arrangements really fun. I will absolutely go back the next time I visit Japan. I cannot rate this highly enough.
I had a wonderful time at this class! I happened to be the only student in my class. My instructor was an absolute gem. I am from the US and my instructor apologized for her English, but it was perfect and I understood everything. I love flowers and arrange them on my own but Ikebana is a totally different way of thinking about aesthetics. I enjoyed learning about the history/philosophy in this beginner class, watched the instructor arrange one to show me, and then ultimately arrange my own. Highly recommend!
An excellent introduction to the art of ikebana! It is definitely more technical than we imagined but thanks to a comprehensive tutorial it was thoroughly enjoyable. Even my reluctant partner was pretty good at it with the Sensei and assistants being surprisingly impressed with his work. Arigatou gozaimasu!
It's my first Ikebana class and I learned a lot from the teacher. He went through quite a bit of the concept and theory behind this art and that took up about 1/3 of the class. It may not be the most interesting bit but I am happy to have learned so much from him. Later on, he guided me on the flowers I've picked and how best to create a beautiful piece. After the 1st round, I had to take it all out and redo it on my own. It was an eye opening experience and the staff was on hand to help out. They were very friendly and encouraging too. Even teaching me how to use the cutter in the right way. I've taken away a lot from this class and am very happy whenever I look back at my Cherry Blossom and Tulip creation. I'll recommend this place to go for your first class and understand the art of Ikebana better.
It was wonderful to learn basic fundamentals of Ikebana from a true Master, and head of an internationally renowned Ikebana school. We learned so much, and then we're able to use what we had learned to create our own seasonal arrangement.
