El Parque Nacional Tikal es el sitio arqueológico (¿maya?) más excavado de Centroamérica y uno de los sitios (arqueológicos) más excavados del mundo. Abarca unas 57.600 hectáreas de humedales y bosques y abarca restos arquitectónicos de la civilización maya que datan del 600 a.C. al 900 d.C. Tikal es el único sitio natural y cultural declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en Centroamérica y uno de los pocos en el mundo con ambas designaciones. Como tal, Tikal es considerado uno de los 20 principales sitios turísticos del mundo y una visita obligada. Elmer is the absolute BEST guide! So knowledgeable, kind, and funny. He was punctual, provided the perfect drinks, and could answer any question we had. Tikal would not have been the same without his guidance, worth every penny and then some!
We had a great experience with Kendal and Tikal VIP Tours. We were picked up from our hotel promptly at 3AM in order to make the sunrise at Tikal, which worked out well. Both our tour guide, Kendal, and driver were very nice. The van had drinks in a cooler ready for us and we were able to get some sleep on the way there. Tikal itself was wonderful, and the experience was made better by Kendal. He explained everything in depth from the architecture to history, was able to answer all of our questions, and made the excursion exciting. It was quite a flexible tour as well, once we got tired we were able to decide which spots we wanted to see and which we were okay skipping. The breakfast after Tikal was a nice touch as well with vegetarian and meat options. Would definitely recommend Tikal VIP Tours.

This was genuinely one of the best tours I have ever taken. Luis and Elmer are exceptional guides whose encyclopaedic knowledge of Tikal’s history, flora and fauna brought the entire experience to life. What impressed me most was not only the depth of their expertise, but also the passion and enthusiasm with which they shared it. Their knowledge extends far beyond Tikal itself - their command of world history and the insightful parallels they drew between the Maya civilisation and other cultures, eras and historical events added an extraordinary depth and richness to the tour. It is rare to encounter people who are both so erudite and so engaging, and their love for what they do was evident throughout the day. Thanks to them, Tikal became far more than a visit to an archaeological site - it was an unforgettable journey through history, culture and nature. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

I highly recommend a tour with Elmer. When guides actually care about the place they're guiding through it makes a big difference. And Elmer clearly is in love with the history and ecosystem of Tikal. He knows every fact about every temple and bird. Also, he picks up pieces of trash along the way because he wants the place to be the best it can be. Elmer's English is also perfect and he generally is great company. I cannot recommend his tours enough!

An exceptional visit with our super guide Elmer. We loved the park, we saw a lot of animals and thanks to the knowledge of the guide we learned so much about Maya and even Guatemala. Elmer was our guide and he did a fabulous jib of showing us all of Tikal while making the history of the Mayans who lived there come alive. He also pointed out wildlife including an up close and noisy group of Howler monkeys. He was both very knowledgeable and a very kind man! I highly recommend him!
We did 3 tours with Tikal VIP tours and would recommend all of them. We booked directly on their website rather than through a third party, it was cheaper and we had no problems. The company were great with communication, the guides spoke great English and were very knowledgeable. Elmer in particular was great to meet and learn about Guatemala from. We did sunset at Yaxha (private tour), the ATM cave and sunrise at Tikal (private tour). We were very lucky to see lots of animals at both Yaxha and Tikal. Our guide Kendal at Tikal was great at pointing out animals and naming them for us. We would recommend Tikal VIP tours to anyone visiting Flores and we would book with them again if we are in the area again.
