Best to skip !

In this day and age of high resolution , technology with the v r glasses, this particular museum left a lot to be desired on one of their attractions. For the price that they charge for entry.I believe that it's better served to go to other museums. We actually only saw three of the exhibits , the other ones we decided that were not even worth to stay. Going with children younger than eight is not recommended. And for people that are having mobility issues, i cannot say that there was a lift available for them to enjoy this exhibit.

An Interactive Experience

The VR experience could be updated to look more realistic, but it was still fun. I enjoyed the different stations and all the information about the Vikings. Personally, I think the gift shop needs more realistic souvenirs and collectibles.

Out of this world--but not in a great way

Unless you are keen on digital screens and have patience (and keen eyesight) to read a lot of little text, this museum will not engage you for more than an hour (including the VR movie, which may have been state-of-the-art when produced, but seems stiff and slow compared to modern video games). While thedisplays provide a lot of information (the timeline is worthwhile, for getting a sense for where the Vikings came from and how they moved across space and time), it also takes a lot of patience to work through the tap-and-read displays. Very few actual artifacts. It was eerily empty–only a handful of other visitors roamed the large dark room. We were alone in our showing of the movie. There were only two staff members; one to run the cash registry at the entry/gift shop, and one to run the VR movie. Best for people who like reading screens.

Thank you for the feedback. Yes do not expect a lot of physical historical artefact as we are a interactive digital museum. We are sorry that your visit didn't live up to expectations.

Overpriced for what it is. Viking Museum walkthrough unavailable.

The holograms were fun, the VR was quite good and there was lots of interactive information boards. However, it was not worth the entrance cost. We were particularly disappointed that the digital walk through of the currently closed Viking Museum was not available. It is listed on the website and we were not informed as we paid that it is not currently working.

Enjoyed ourselves, though unsure we learnt much

We stopped by on a Friday afternoon in June and though there were quite a few people here, the space (it’s essentially all in one room) was large enough. There was no real direction, so we just started engaging in the various displays, which were all quite interesting. The VR was fun too.

Well Worth a Visit

Having visited Viking museums in York, Copenhagen and Stockholm, I almost gave this a miss! Thankfully I didn't and was rewarded with a fresh approach to presenting the Viking story, using up to date technology that challenged the senses. Highly entertaining and informative at the same time

High-tech Vikings with low emotional weight—impressive screens, but the saga never quite lands.

It feels more like a polished digital experience about Vikings than a genuinely immersive or memorable one. On paper, it promises a modern, high-tech dive into Viking history, but in practice it leans heavily on screens, VR, and effects that never quite add up to something emotionally or intellectually gripping. It can feel a bit like a very good museum trailer that forgot to become the full film. There are moments where it works, some of the visual reconstructions are slick, and the VR elements are fun in a “five minutes of novelty” kind of way, but it doesn’t really ground you in the story of the Vikings in the way you’d hope. You leave knowing more, perhaps, but feeling less connected to it all. It also suffers a bit from comparison. In a city where places like the Fram or the Folk Museum give you atmosphere, space, and texture, this feels more like a curated experience rather than a place you inhabit. In short: interesting idea, shiny execution, but not much staying power once you step back out into Oslo. *Visited with the Oslo Pass.

Thank for the detailed feedback. Each of our movis and experiences are produced to last for 15-20 minutes so maybe that is what you are describing. We are sorry that the experience didn't live up to your expectations.

Too expensive, go your way

Too expensive for only projected movies, reading panels and interactive screens.
