La experiencia del regreso a casa a Cape-coast y Elmina.

A day before the trip we were asked which Cape Coast trip we wanted to make. Because of the quick decision, the wrong one chosen, we wanted to do the rope bridges, but the other one was touted as the most interesting one. (so they already had travelers for that it turned out later ) It was not told that it was without the rope bridges. We were under the impression that there was only one trip. The guide had his say in the beginning, but for the rest there were guides on the spot. Our guide was mostly asleep. The only one who really had to work was the driver. Only the we have given a tip for the good ride.

I liked having the guided tour of the Elmina and Cape Coast castles. I appreciated that the guides were well versed on the history of the castles. They provided information on the architecture, religious and cultural implications, experiences of the enslaved Africans, and plans for the future of the structure. Be prepared to be aggressively approached by local merchants selling their goods upon entry to the castle. They are not trying to hurt you in any way but if you are not used to being approached by many people quickly or are not a fan of crowds, this can be intimidating. THEY DO NOT MEAN ANY HARM!! They are simply earning a living. They are not permitted inside the museum. Lastly, there are gift shops inside the museum for you to purchase books, art, etc.

I am giving this a 5 because of Moses the driver. This trip deserves a 1 because of the deception around the time it takes to/from travel between the attraction and Accra. It took us 7 hours to get there and 6 hours to return home. The traffic and poor road conditions have been a fact of life since 2023 when the construction started. There are hotels in the area of the attractions if you would rather not spend 13 hours in a car in one day.

Moses was an outstanding guide for our Cape Coast and Elmina tour. He was knowledgeable, professional, and passionate about sharing Ghana’s history and culture. He took the time to explain the significance of each site, answered all questions thoroughly, and made the experience both educational and memorable. His friendly personality, punctuality, and attention to detail made the trip enjoyable from start to finish. The visit to Cape Coast Castle and Elmina Castle was powerful and moving, and Moses ensured everyone felt comfortable throughout the journey. The experience was more than a 5 out 5 it was unforgettable, evoked all of my emotions, and was very spiritual for me. Samuel the tour guide, was extremely exceptional, he made the experience memorable and very comfortable to be around.

I booked this tour somewhat last minute. However, once I purchased the ticket, I was contacted within minutes by the tour company with my driver’s information. Shortly thereafter my driver contacted me to confirm the pick- up time and place. He also provided a description of his vehicle. My driver and tour guide was Samuel. He presented me with the choice of three places to visit among the four choices available. Samuel was very knowledgeable about his country’s history, culture, and current political events. It had rained for hours the day before my tour and there were floods everywhere. However, Samuel’s demeanor and humor about the situation made a positive impact on what could have been a very stressful experience. Throughout the drive from Accra to the sites, we spent time conversing while Samuel pointed out portions of the landscape and shared information about the places we passed. I truly enjoyed the places I visited: Elmina Castle, Cape Coast Castle, and Kakum National Park. I highly recommend this company for your future tour experiences whether you are exploring Accra or heading out to Cape Coast. If you are luck you will meet Samuel and fall in love with Ghana as I did.

My tour to Cape Coast and Elmina was extremely well organized, educational and revealed emotional and deep rooted ties between my ancestors journey from West Africa to Jamaica and the Americas. Big Ben Tours and Eben my tour guide provided an excellent trip. Eben's recommendation for lunch in Cape Coast was great. We had lunch at a restaurant on the beach featuring delicious Jollof rice, Chicken, Fish and local drinks. I am definely recommending this tour to family a friends.

We loved the national park and going on the treetop walk. The guides were very knowledgeable at the castles. Just note that the drive there is very long, much of it is on a bumpy road. Still it was a good day out.

We did 2 tours - a 2 day tour to Cape Coast, Elmina, Kakum and Assin Manso, and a 1 day tour of Accra. Both tours were excellent - Ben is extremely knowledgeable and gives a great perspective of both historical and modern sites, even for those who have visited Accra previously. We had different drivers for the 2 tours - both were excellent and we felt very safe, and the minivans were very comfortable. Everything was very well organised and Ben ensured that we had enough time in each place. We added an extra stop to our Cape Coast tour and Ben was vey flexible in accommodating this, despite it meaning a later return to Accra than originally planned. All 7 in our group (aged 10 to 87 years) had a fantastic time and I would have no hesitation in recommending Big Ben Tours for those visiting Accra and surroundings. Thank you!
