Sri Lanka is a beautiful and amazing country! However, this excursion had many challenges. Our guide was an hour late to pick us up, and we ended up having to completely change the itinerary as there was not enough time to do everything promised with this excursion. The only things we had time to do were to go to the spice garden (skip it- major sales tactics here) and to the Jeep safari. The safari was perfect- we saw so many elephants and were able to get up close to them! We spent the majority of our excursion in the car with perilous driving. Would absolutely recommend the safari though! Will have to save Sigiriya for our next visit. Overall- highly recommend going to Sri Lanka and doing a safari but would not book this particular excursion.
Great experience with guided tours. Very informative. Definitely enjoyed having a guide explaining the history. Guide for safari was great at seeing and pointing out different animals
Had a great trip. Before the trip I was familiar with Sigiriya being an iconic destination. Until arriving I did not realize the scope and size of the site or the history. The cave temples were also an impressive sight to behold. Lastly to see the elephants in the wild was just breathtaking. Just a few comments to prepare future guests. It is a very long day. The drive from Colombo can take 3-4 hours each way depending on traffic. There is lots of traffic, and that in and of itself is a sight to behold. Secondly, there is lots of climbing of steps. You don’t need to be in peak physical shape, but understand that you will want to drink plenty of water (provided by tour), wear comfortable walking shoes, and definitely sunblock if fair skinned.
Overall the experience was good but there were a few issues … like there was no WiFi on the car ride and no fruit or coconuts offered during safari and on the safari it took 2 hours of driving in terrible roads before we saw a couple elephants .
Dear Sir / Madam, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear that overall you had a good experience, and we truly appreciate your honest comments about the areas that can be improved. We’d like to clarify a couple of points: There was WiFi available in the car, but it needs to be activated on request by the driver, as it’s a portable unit that’s turned on when guests wish to use it. We’re sorry this wasn’t communicated clearly during your ride. Regarding the fruits and coconuts, the Department of Wildlife Conservation has recently introduced a new regulation prohibiting visitors from bringing any food or fruits into national parks, since the smell attracts elephants and other wildlife, which can create dangerous situations. For everyone’s safety, we strictly follow this rule. As for the long drive before seeing elephants, sightings can vary depending on the herds’ movement patterns and weather conditions. Our safari drivers always do their best to locate elephants in their natural areas while keeping guests safe and comfortable. Thank you again for your understanding and valuable feedback — it helps us continue improving our service quality. Warm regards, SigiriTrip Tours Team
I do love a private tour. Our guide Vidu Wanshaja was very informative and really made our excursion special.
Excellent tour showing must see things while in Sri Lanka. Vidu, my guide, was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Tour operator kept me updated on the plan. I would highly recommend using this company and guide.
With only one day to see Sri Lanka I booked a private tour hoping for the best. The trip exceeded all expectations, Vidu made the entire day (14 hours!) fun and was extremely great company the entire time. The driving was comfortable and safe, the organisation was great and he was flexibel with what we planned. All of the excursions were brilliant - couldn't come more highly recommended. Will be back Vidu!
