En Vravrona encontrará una cautivadora combinación de historia antigua y herencia cristiana. Este sitio, situado en un humedal costero, solía inundarse cada invierno, lo que llevó a la construcción de puentes que aún hoy se mantienen en pie.
Descubra el Templo de Artemisa: Dedicado a la diosa Artemisa, protectora de los cazadores, los animales y los partos, Vravrona tiene un significado histórico único. Cuenta la leyenda que Artemisa, enojada por la matanza de dos osas jóvenes, infligió una plaga a Atenas. Para apaciguarla, los atenienses enviaron niñas de entre 5 y 10 años para que la sirvieran en su templo, conocido como arkti (osos). Aquí se celebraban festivales como el Vravronia, con música, deportes y recitados de poesía.
Ubicado cerca del impresionante santuario de Artemisa, en medio de una exuberante vegetación, este pequeño museo guarda tesoros de Vravrona y Mesogeia. Las exhibiciones abarcan desde la época prehistórica hasta la romana, y destacan esculturas de "Osas" y representaciones de jóvenes devotos que honran a la diosa Artemisa. Tas met us at our cruise ship, and loaded up our luggage. He brought Greek cookies, and stopped to buy us coffee! (not an easy task) Driving through the countryside was gorgeous, with small farms & animals. We spent a lovely day at the Temple of Artemis, which is truly a hidden gem! Not too many people, fascinating ruins to walk through, and an excellent museum. Tas is a wealth of historical and cultural information, and truly kind and personable. Most highly recommended!!!

This all-day trip was a fantastic way to see some of the sights outside the city. Peter was a great driver and guide during the travel times between sites. The actual sites themselves were at your own pace, which was a fun way to dig into the history as much as we wanted. The entire tour was great, but the Temple of Poseidon was the highlight (along with lunch on the coast).
