Absolutely stunning views and beautifully talented culture, worth the experience. Everyone was lovely and great humour
An amazing experience from start to finish which had been recommended to us by friends. We were a group of 4 & everyone loved it. The hangi buffet was extensive & delicious. Recommend you dont eat much beforehand as there is so much food on offer. It was in a large dining hall & although the venue appeared to be full it was in beautiful surroundings & a very enjoyable dining experience. The show was very emotive & stunning. The performers were so talented & obviously proud of their heritage. There was plenty of seating & everyone had clear views to the stage. The optional night walk to the geysers was so worth it. We had done a geyser tour there earlier in the day but it had a completely different feel at night especially with the coloured lighting…a magical feel. Our guide was so friendly & informative taking extra time to do a Q & A session whilst we sat on some warm rocks. The complimentary hot chocolate was delicious. There was also the option to walk to & from the geysers or catch the little “train” bus. Highly recommend this experience.
Tēnā koe (hello), Thank you so much for your lovely review. We’re really happy to hear your whole rōpū (group) enjoyed the experience from start to finish. It’s awesome to know you loved the hāngī buffet, the cultural performance, and the nighttime visit through the geothermal valley. Seeing the geysers lit up at night really does create a special atmosphere. We’re also glad to hear that your kaiārahi (guide) helped make the evening memorable with their knowledge and friendliness. hank you again for highly recommending Te Puia. Kia pai te rā (have a nice day)
Great experience to know more about the Maori culture and arts. Also, the Geyser was amazing as I’ve never had seen one before. All the food was delicious especially the Hangi chicken - loved it. Also, the tour guide were lovely to show us around and to accommodate all the questions. The cultural performance was also astounding!
Tēnā koe (hello), Thank you so much for your lovely review. We’re really happy to hear you enjoyed learning more about Māori culture and spending time at the New Zealand Māori Arts & Crafts Institute. It’s always special hearing from manuhiri (visitors) experiencing a geyser for the first time, and Pohutu definitely leaves a lasting impression. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the hāngī Buffet too, especially the chicken. We’re also pleased to heat that our kaiārahi (guides) helped make your visit enjoyable and were able to answer all your questions along the way. Kia pai te rā (have a nice day)
Delicious food….probably the best quality of buffet style food I’ve ever had. The hosts were fantastic as was the performance!
The dinner was absolutely incredible! Everything about this activity was A+…the hosts, the show and the venue.
Nice evening. Good food but wished more information on the hangi method of cooking had been shared. This part of our evening only took about 5 minutes. The Haka seemed authentic and we learned a lot from this experience. It was cool to watch the geysers at night with colorful lights. Dress in layers if it’s cold because you will spend sometime outdoors.
Tēnā koe (hello), Thank you for taking the time to share your evening experience with us. We’re really happy to hear you enjoyed the food, the cultural performance, and seeing the geysers lit up at night. It’s awesome to know you found the experience authentic and came away learning more about Māori culture. We appreciate your feedback around the hāngī . We understand wanting to hear and learn more about the process. Kia pai te rā (have a nice day)
Te Puia’s Te Pō Indigenous Evening Experience is a must-do in Rotorua. The evening starts with dinner, so you’re not left hungry. The buffet is massive—definitely arrive ready to eat! Afterward, you’re immersed in Māori culture, with village experiences, haka performances, and a chance to see the geyser. It’s a full evening that gives you culture, food, and natural wonders all in one go. Don’t miss it!
Tēnā koe (hello), Ngā mihi nui (thank you very much) for taking the time to share this. Really glad to hear you enjoyed Te Pō Indigenous Evening Experience and that the whole night felt like a full package with kai (food), culture, and nature all together. Sounds like the buffet hit the mark. That combination of storytelling, performance, and geyser is exactly what we hope people take away from the experience here in Rotorua. We really appreciate the recommendation, it means a lot to our kaimahi (team) who bring it all to life each night. Kia pai te rā (have a nice day)
The guided tour was very interesting and informative, and the cultural performance was amazing and helped me learn more about the Maori and the culture.
Amazing from start to finish I would highly recommend to anyone. The staff were incredible and welcoming.
What a great time! Staff was knowledgeable and the performance was educational as well as entertaining. Food was great!

So good to hear our kaimahi (team) made things easy to follow and engaging, and that you enjoyed the cultural performance as well. It’s always nice when it’s both informative and a good watch at the same time. Awesome to hear the kai (food) hit the mark too. Ngā mihi (thanks) again for coming through and sharing your experience with us. Kia pai te rā (have a nice day)
