El mercado de Markale fue uno de los lugares donde los ciudadanos de Sarajevo, incluso durante la guerra, tuvieron la oportunidad de encontrar suministros. Allí podían encontrar alimentos y otros elementos esenciales que los estaban ayudando durante los tiempos difíciles cuando Sarajevo estuvo bajo el asedio MÁS LARGO en la historia de las guerras modernas. Desafortunadamente, este lugar fue el foco de las dos masacres más grandes del Ejército de la República Srpska.

El túnel sirvió como la única entrada a Sarajevo durante los cuatro años de asedio. Tenía 800 metros de largo y era la única conexión de la ciudad rodeada con el resto del mundo. Hoy en día funciona como museo.

We did 2 tours with the same guide Mr Armin Komarica which were Morning Walking Tour of Sarajevo’s Old Town as well as Fall of Yugoslavia Tour. Mr Armin was highly personable, professional and knowledgeable about the sites we visited. He also does the food tour too. You can feel his passion of his job and he speaks very good English and his explanation were also highly detailed. At the end of our tours, we were hoping that Mr Armin also can conduct other Bosnian touring activities as we highly enjoyed our time with him. He is highly recommended for those who want to join Meet Bosnia’s tours and you won’t regret.

Wonderfully organized tour, the guide was very good at explaining the story of what happened and allowing you to immerse yourself in the life of those very bad days. Recommended if you want to try to understand what happened.

Amazing and very moving tour, recounting the breakup of Yugoslavia and the horrific siege of Sarajevo. The tour guides we had, Eddie and Amir, were clearly passionate about their country's history, both remote and recent. They included personal stories along with explanations of what happened during the war, that made the history come to life quite vividly. It was a truly unforgettable experience.

Even though the sight is small it offers a good view of what life was like during the civil war in bosnia and what happened in Sarajevo. Reminder of how people have acted against each other. You get the chance to walk in the tunnel.
