Lección de Surf en Tamarindo: Privadas y Grupales

The instructor was nice but I was really disappointed with the overall experience. There is not any sort of actual building - just a tent on the beach. There were no towels to use (even though our reservation said they were provided) and there was not a safe place to leave our belongings while we were in the water. We were told to just leave them under the tent, but many different people were coming and going and nobody was really looking out for them. The entire setup seemed very unprofessional and, for the cost, I would book next time with one of the businesses on the beach with lockers, towels, nicer boards, etc

Before I even took a lesson with Johnny, I watched him surf—and he’s just as impressive as an instructor as he is in the water. I'd recommend him to anyone who is serious about learning. I started with zero experience and ended up take 12–13 private lessons with him. By the end, I was catching waves on my own—and I credit that largely to his teaching approach. In fact, a couple of people ended up hiring him after seeing the progress I was making with him, which says a lot. Johnny will make you work—very Belichick-style—but in the best way. He knew exactly when and how to push me. By the end of the first week, he had me out on bigger waves at Playa Grande. It felt like a big jump, but it helped me progress and it's also cool to try out different waves. Unlike many instructors out there, he doesn’t train you with “beginner-only” techniques you’ll have to unlearn later. He teaches the proper form and pop-up from the start. He also doesn't put students on the supersized boards just to get you standing. Instead, he uses boards that allow you to feel the wave more and understand timing and positioning. It’s a slightly harder learning curve at first, but it is more fun and you progress faster. (Don't worry, your first board is still plenty big.) He downsized my board twice over the 12-13 days. In the water, he’s constantly paying attention and encouraging everyone around him. He’s patient, genuinely invested, and knows when to push and when to hold back. At one point, he told me to take a day off. I was on fire when I came back. Tip: cheaper to book on the beach in person and there is a discount for booking multiple lessons.

Can’t say enough good things about these guys. We did surfing lessons with them 2 days on our trip. Surfing with Andric and Jonathan was just awesome! They are super patient, and they are a great teachers. Jonathan was absolutely fantastic with our youngest child and he had a great time and was probably surfing better than the rest of us. These guys were also very helpful and helping us identify other activities during our stay in Tamarindo. We booked a fishing charter on Andric’s recommendation and had a blast and caught several sailfish! If you are going to Tamarindo and you were interested in surf lessons or various other activities, give these guys your business. You will be very happy that you did.

We had the best time with Blue Wave Surf tours in Tamarindo. We had a two hour private lesson with Johnny and Edgar and it was just the highlight of our trip. We were able to get up and ride the waves right away with their expertise. Very friendly, helpful and supportive, lovely gentlemen. We will most definitely book again when we return. At the end of the lesson we had a massage co-ordinated on the beach and it was just the best ending to a great morning. Highly recommend.

Amazing experience with Andric. Awesome instructor. We signed up for a semi private lesson but ended up having a full private lesson because no one else showed up. My girlfriend had no prior experience with any kind of water sports and Andric gave her the confidence and the tips to be fully standing and surfing by the end of the lesson. Great conversation, advice and in my opinion under priced for what he offers. Great lesson would 100% use again if we came back.

Blue wave surf was awesome. My daughter and I have had many surf lessons around the world, and Jonathon (aka Jonnie) is by far the best. Technically superior, and super friendly, and had us up on thee board surfing Was so good.

I did this lesson by myself, never having surfed before and it was amazing. The instructor was so helpful and patient. He ensured I was safe and having fun the whole time. Would recommend!

We had a blast surfing with Andric. All details were easy and the lesson was thorough. Each one of us in our group were able to take Andric's lessons and apply them in context leading us to amazing results. We felt safe, supported, and now we have wonderful memories of 'the time we went surfing.' Thank you for the photos you took, we appreciated this service very much.

Gustavo is an amazing instructor! Makes you feel very confident and comfortable when learning how to surf for the first time. Would recommend! Bring a towel and some sunscreen, shirts are provided.
