Maria was an amazing tour guide. The tour is a good length, loads of traditional food and background on why/ how the food came to be. Learned about coffee and the last stop had a great soup and learned about some more of the history of Colombia. I ended up with a “vip” tour as I was the only one and had an amazing time with Maria. Possibly my favourite thing I did my entire time in Medellin.
Highly recommend, a lot of delicious food and interesting facts about Colombia, its culture and food
I tried a great variety of delicious local dishes and learned so much about Medellín’s food culture. A big thank you to tour guide, Maria, for making the tour so fun and informative.
Great food experience. We had 7 food tasting. Our guide informed us of how the Colombian enjoy each food & what part of the day. Colombians like to eat. Nice to enjoy these specialties. ENJOY!!
We loved our afternoon with María. She was very patient & let us practice our Spanish skills with her. We did a food tour (with a different company) in Bogotá & want to reassure others that even the crossover foods had distinct regional differences. We did this on our first day in Medellín & found several places to return to in coming days & felt instantly more connected to & familiar with the El Poblado area. Definitely do this!
My tour guide, Maria, met me on time at the designated spot. She was awesome. We started the 9 stop food journey with a hefty portion of Colombian empanada Delicious. Maria explained the back story of this dish along with a description comparing the versions from other countries. As we slowly walked along the streets of the Poblado section taking in the sights and smells, I experienced fruits from Colombia ( more than 300 varieties in Colombia, as Maria told), other interesting dishes whose names escape me and, an eye opening coffee spot featuring a coffee lemonade and an educational lesson in coffee production in Colombia and elsewhere. We eventually made our way to the final destination featuring a generous shot of a Colombian alcoholic concoction called Vichi which went down surprisingly smoothly warming the path to my stomach. The entire experience was wonderful!
The variety of the food choices was spectacular. The guide was very helpful in describing all of the food as well as the story behind each one. She answered all the questions my family and I had about the culture of the area and recommendations for all over Medellin (Food/restaurants, cafes, views, new Spanish words, etc.)
It is an excellent way of knowing the food and culture of Medellin. The tour included only local businesses where the local people eat. Our guide, Maria, was excellent in explaining to us the history and the culture of Medellin , and how food is related to those topics. Maria made it the best food tour we ever have had.
María was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable. Make sure you show up hungry because it's a lot of food and it's amazing! Yum!
I highly recommend this tour. Plenty of good with good variety. Arrive hungry! The coffee part was a pleasant surprise.
