Street Art Tour Budapest

We met Attila, our guide, at a coffee cafe which was a great way to start our walk. We walked through the Jewish Quarter or what had historically been the Jewish Quarter marked by street identifications (ask about Stumble Stones) defining a neighborhood through recent history. On our way we talked about the moving events of the area. Our guide pointed out current gentrification with examples of historical and current buildings to compare. As we walked our guide pointed out street art and murals that were fun and meaningful - played a guessing game of which famous artist the street art made us think of. Some of the street art reflected on growing up during the Communist area where our guide was able to share personal experiences. A fun counter to the solemnity of the history of the Jewish Quarter was a stop at the Ruin Bars for a drink and amazing illuminated and graffiti art filled rooms that had been flats and residences during another time. We wrapped up our walk with a stop at a Jewish coffee stop and book store. The tour was a juxtaposition of moving experiences, fun, and good conversation.
Attila is passionate about street art & history and created a tour that combines both passions. Thank you for awesomeness!
Staying in the 7th Precinct, I thought I'd seen most, if not all, of it... attila pointed out a lot of things I had overlooked, not always details attila also knows how to seamlessly link past and present attila's tour is perfect for both young western Europeans with little knowledge of what happened 'behind the curtain', as well as for people my age (seniors) who know a little more about history attila combines history & present with humor in a street art tour in such a way that I never got bored
What a brilliant experience and fantastic insight not only into the thriving Street Art Scene but a locals perspective on how the city continues to evolve! Attila was the perfect guide, such knowledge and passion not only for the Art but also Historic and political landscape! Many thanks for the added tips he gave at the end of the tour and the little gems we went onto find afterwards! Great Food recommendations and an opportunity to visit other city artists.
Atilla’s knowledge of the city and its rich history is second to none. An entertaining and relaxed tour, suitable for all ages that showed us a side to the city we never would have found otherwise. Highly recommended.
Honestly, Attila was the most amazing tour guide. He individualized our couples tour as we went along according to our interests. Knowledgable. The tour was well worth the money, would recommend!
This tour must be in the top 3 things you do when visiting Budapest! The tour goes far beyond an exploration of the murals to include the history, culture, and nuanced stories of the neighborhood that you can not get from anywhere but an informed and passionate local such as Attila. He customizes the experience to your questions and interests. He is patient, kind, and so knowlegeable. If you are intimidated by a walking tour, please know that this tour can cover a short distance with a tremendous amount of content. It is individually paced and accessible. We have taken many tours and this one far exceeds anything we have experienced to date. Thank you, Attila, for making our Budapest experience so much more than a cursory review of the common tourist spots. Because of you, we were truly able to experience the depth of Budapest and Hungarian culture in a unique way that we will never forget.
One of the best walking tours I have done anywhere, and I have done many. Attila had a wonderful understanding of the history of Budapest’s central area, especially the old Jewish ghetto. He spoke about street markers and city art with real passion. He also responded to each question f on the group expertly. I loved this! Don Derosby New York City and Mexico City.
A fabulous tour. Learned a lot about history along with currents challenges. Plus we discovered street art. Attila was so personable. His English is excellent too. Highly recommend this tour.
Our guide, Atilla was knowledgeable about the street artists & shared the meanings behind the art work & their political statements. The tour was well paced as he shared the history of his city.
