This museum is fantastic; I was struck by these huge street art drawings all made with spray cans, incredible masterpieces. 21.50€ well spent
Would have voted 5 if there was more and the light coming through skylights didn’t bleach out the art up high. Also through the shop was overpriced. Good bits. Liked the free audio tour on the female artists. Great varied art that also interested kids of young tonnage and preteen. Spent a couple of hours at least in here which I didn’t think we would. Took loads of photos and learnt a bit on new/different street artists. Cool location.
The STRAAT Museum was a great surprise. Located in an old ship manufacturing building it houses very well done art, some of it is immense in scale. The museum is well done, excellent information throughout, and all very impressive. For most the experience will include transport via the free ferry from near Amsterdam Centraal, which rounds out the experience. The exhibit is lesser known and not crowded, you will enjoy it.
Our final morning in Amsterdam. The centre towards Dam Square was extremely busy on this Friday morning so we caught the free 15min ferry to NDSM from the back of Amsterdam Centraal. 3 minutes walk from ferry saw us at Straat. I'd managed to buy discounted tickets from tripper.nl. Loved the scale of the art, the variety and really appreciated that it's not just the Dutch masters who had talent. Some of the art certainly engaged our teens. The warehouse was informal & spacious which meant we had space to enjoy. Area has a very different vibe from around station which was great to experience. Highly recommend.
We love street art, and in this place, we were well served!! Magnificent works!! It was a feast for the eyes. The small café that overlooks the gallery is very nice; you can drink or eat something there. Bravo for this beautiful place! PS: to get there, take the ferry behind the central station (F4); it’s free and it’s fast. From the ferry exit, it’s in front of you on the right; you will see the portrait of Anne Frank in the distance.
I loved my visit to the STRAAT Museum. The artworks are huge, original, and filled with details. You really take the time to appreciate each creation, and the fact that several were created directly on-site makes the experience even more impressive. The place is spacious, bright, and pleasant to walk through. Even without being a great street art connoisseur, you leave amazed and inspired. It is a must-see during a stay in Amsterdam! PS: Don't forget to walk around the area; the visit continues outside.
Unexpected and fantastic addition to your trip! I didn’t know about the Street Art museum before we came to Amsterdam but a tour guide recommended it and we loved it! We took the ferry over and it was a simple (and free) trip. I loved the art! I’m so glad we went.
The warehouse/museum and the art is awesome. The building next door is also worth visiting. Very interesting enjoyable experience.
Learned the meaning and difference between graffiti and street art! Amazing artwork sending out. meaningful messages.
Fantastic history of street art. The experience is well worth the visit. Highly recommend making it a stop on your visit to Amsterdam.
