Very Disappointing and Poor Value for Money

Very Disappointing and Poor Value for Money My son and I booked this private boat trip from Sorrento to Capri because it was advertised as a small-group experience with a maximum of 12 people on board, a guide, refreshments including soft drinks and beer, a sandwich lunch, snorkelling equipment, and a visit to the Blue Grotto. We expected a relaxed and enjoyable way to see the coastline before spending some time in Capri and then returning to Sorrento. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of what was advertised. We arrived at the designated time, only to find complete chaos. We were left waiting for almost two hours before our boat was available. During this time, nothing was offered to guests, not even a drink, despite repeated apologies from staff. We later discovered that delays like this appear to be quite common for this company. Once we finally boarded, the situation did not improve. Despite the advertised refreshments, nothing was offered until my son specifically asked for a beer. He was then told that beer was not included in the trip, contrary to what had been advertised. The only refreshments we received throughout the day were bottles of water. The captain did point out a few sights along the coastline, but because he was driving the boat and speaking without any microphone or amplification, only the passengers sitting close to him could hear what he was saying. Most of us missed the commentary entirely. Perhaps the biggest disappointment for many passengers was the Blue Grotto. This was included as part of the advertised experience and was one of the main reasons several people on board had booked the trip. Once we were out at sea, we were informed that a visit would not be possible due to tidal conditions. While we appreciate that safety and sea conditions can affect access, tides are predictable and this should surely have been known well before departure. By this point, given everything else that had happened, I was no longer surprised, but many other passengers were understandably frustrated as the Blue Grotto was the highlight they had specifically paid to see. We also stopped for a swim, but there was no snorkelling equipment as advertised. The boat only had a few pairs of goggles, and there weren't even enough for everyone who wanted to go in the water. People had to share them, which was far from the snorkelling experience we had paid for. When we arrived in Capri, the advertised lunch turned out to be a soggy tomato and cheese roll and another bottle of water. It was extremely disappointing and nowhere near what we had expected based on the description of the trip. On our return, we raised our concerns with the company, but received no meaningful response, apology beyond the standard excuses, or compensation. While the boat ride itself was pleasant enough and Capri is beautiful, the trip was simply not worth the €140 per person we paid. For a fraction of the cost, you can take the ferry to Capri and have a very similar experience without being misled by promises that are not delivered. Overall, this excursion felt seriously misrepresented. We paid a premium price for refreshments, lunch, snorkelling equipment, guided commentary and a Blue Grotto visit that either never materialised or fell well below expectations. In reality, we paid €140 each for bottled water, a soggy roll and a delayed boat ride to Capri. Very disappointed, feeling completely out of pocket, and would not recommend this trip to anyone. ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5)

Amazing guide and captain

We had an amazing group boat tour to Capri from Sorrento! Everything was very well organized, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. Our guide, captain was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone felt welcome throughout the trip. The information and recommendations were excellent and really enhanced our experience. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sorrento!

The experience was great....

The experience was great. However, the management should know that the customer service rep that sits at the office is extremely rude and has a horrible attitude, she was not helpful, kept rolling her eyes, took forever to answer any questions and proceeded to ignore guests even-though there was a long queue of people waiting in line to check into the activity. Also, I was surprised that they charged a 4% credit card fee, no other excursion charges this fee for credit card use. Also, the activity started 30 minutes late and finished at the same time. There was no apology or answers, we had to wait in the sweltering heat just to be rushed during the activity. The captain of the ship and the skipper were nice and the activity fun but otherwise it left a horrible impression in my mind.

If you want to see the Blue Grotto do not book this tour.

The boat tour was called Private Boat Tour to Capri and the Blue Grotto but we never got to see the Blue Grotto. We sat at the entrance of the Blue Grotto for 1.5 hours watching tour boats from other companies that arrived after us go in front of us to enter. We have booked many successful and fun tours with Viator around the world so Please do not read this and not book Viator. I would instead make sure if you book this tour to make sure you are not on the Cape Crapolla boat which seems to have a bad relationship with the row boat operators that grant entrance to the Grotto. Please also know that our family is continuing to have a bad experience with the on ground tour organizer because I did reach out to Viator after to lodge a complaint.

We had time but driver...

We had time but driver did not stop at blue grotto. The driver was also very rude. They did not have enough drinks even though it says it was included. Not a pleasant experience

Do NOT book this tour

A lot of hidden fees! You do NOT get the option of seeing blue grotto— if you really want to see blue grotto use other private tour. Skipper was very nice, boat was good but not worth the price… use ferry instead

Overall a very fun day,...

Overall a very fun day, we didn’t get to see the blue grotto due to long lines and please be warned that there are hidden costs with fuel and 2x embankment fee. We ended up paying €120 on top of what we originally paid for the tour for two people. But the experience on the boat was very nice, relaxing and enjoyable.

Wonderful Experience - Made Special by the Company and Captains

We had an incredible experience with Gianluigi and his cousin. We also had a great mix of folks on the boat and met a wonderful family. The captains of the boat did a great job explaining things to us and were very informative and kind. It was the highlight of our trip - we would 100 percent book this again, especially if we could have the two captains we had each time.

Overcharged by VIATOR

The overall experience was okay but we were presented with costs which were unclear at the time of booking - small print scams
