Carthage is fascinating, and our guide was great. Very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour of Sidi Bou Said was very beautiful!
We did a half day tour of Carthage and Sidi Bou Said with Mr. Lassad Chebbi, tour guide, and Mr. Adem Mallouli, driver. Mr. Chebbi was very informative and gave us a lot of details about the history of Carthage and the ruins around the Carthage Museum, aqueduct & cisterns, the impressive Antonine Baths, Tophet sanctuary, Punic port, and paleo-Christian museum. Since we are from the US, he also took us to see the North Africa American Cemetery. We then went to Sidi Bou Said where we strolled along the main street and took in the sights. It was very convenient to have the driver drop us off at so many different places that would have been challenging to navigate without a car.
The outstanding aspect of this tour was our guide. Fawzi was an historian, scholar and engaging conversationalist. Wandering through the ruins of Carthage would not have been meaningful without his insights. It was also enjoyable to discuss topics of cultures, customs and cuisines. Having an intelligent guide like Fawzi made this tour outstanding.
Connecting in Tunisia VERY difficult. Multi calls and Compass confusion. Guide good and funny. Sites interesting at best
Tour was cancelled last evening, too late to rebook another tour as our cruise tours were sold out. We travelled halfway around the world to see Carthage…very disappointed!
Dear Cheryl Filker, Thank you for your feedback. We are sincerely sorry for this situation. Unfortunately, we had to cancel your excursion, as well as another one scheduled for a different couple. This was a case of force majeure: our two guides assigned for that date, who belong to the same family, lost a close relative the day before your excursion and were therefore unable to provide their services. Coincidentally, on October 21, all of our professional and experienced guides were already assigned to excursions. In addition, two cruise ships were in port that day, which made finding a replacement guide even more difficult. We tried everything to find a solution for you, including contacting guides from other regions, but unfortunately without success, as October is a very busy month for tours in Tunisia. We also attempted to include you in another group, but this was not possible, as we only organize private excursions. Even on the day of the excursion and after the cancellation, we continued searching for an available guide, but without success. We hope to welcome you again in Tunisia and would be happy to offer a special excursion as a gesture of our apology. Thank you very much for your understanding. We hope you understand the situation and do not leave a one-star review, as this does not reflect the usual quality of our services. This situation was beyond our control. Kind regards, The Compass Travel & Events Team
Cancelled on me less than 24 hours before via visitor. Little access to email so wasn’t aware until I was waiting

It is not possible to come to Tunisia and mainly to the north without visiting the archaeological site of Carthage .Founded by the Phoenicians in the 1st century BC and taken over by the Romans at the beginning of the 1st century AD. The site is still very interesting to discover even if only the lower parts exist , except E 2 columns. Must see , superb view of the Mediterranean
Imagine a personal tour with a journalist and cultural anthropologist. Fawzi was both and he gave my daughter and I a fantastic personal tour with attention to detail and patience. Highly recommended!
The history of Carthage came alive as we moved from site to site. Very interesting . our guide was well educated about the history of this and of Tunis in general. His name was Yohia Zeinekh, call him Yahyah. The driver was Adam Mallouli. Both were pleasant and helpful. They arrived at our meeting place punctually. It was a good experience.

We had the pleasure of exploring the archaeological site of Carthage and the charming city of Sidi Bou Said with an exceptional guide who truly brought the experience to life. His passion for Tunisia and its rich history was evident in every story he told and every detail he pointed out. In Carthage, he helped us imagine the grandeur of the ancient civilization, walking us through ruins that held centuries of history. He painted a vivid picture of the city’s rise and fall, and his knowledge added real depth to the visit. Sidi Bou Said was equally captivating — a picturesque town of blue and white, where our guide shared not only historical insights but also cultural gems, from local traditions to hidden spots we would have easily missed. It’s rare to meet someone so genuinely proud of their country, and his enthusiasm made this tour unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience Tunisia beyond the surface.
