Great experience in this private day trip to Batam. Johny was a great and funny guide. Went as a family of 6 and we had great opportunities for photos, activities and shopping. Well rounded and great for large or small groups.
Johni is an excellent tour guide.
Ying provided us with a very enjoyable trip through Batam. She showed us a wide range of cultural activities that gave us a good insight into life on the island. Would recommend her services for those interested in visiting Batam for the day.
Very attentive and comprehensive services
Excellent day with Winner our guide. Welcomed at the terminal straight to an air conditioned car. Lunch was a sample of all Indonesian foods and lots of stops and shopping along the way. Thanks winner. For those booking a trip from one country Toney other make sure you check if you need a visa and fill out your arrival cards. Some visas available on arrival.
Trip cancelled by TripAdvisor when at meeting point. Organiser (Solid Travel, Batam, Indonesia ) uncontactable. Instructions all very unclear.
We took the opportunity to travel by ferry to the Indonesian island port of Batam Saturday, 1/18, to add to our countries visited. We got a very full introduction to Indonesian culture with Amel, our very informative private guide from the large Indonesian island of Sumatra who we shared with a young couple from Malaysia. She drove us on our very full day of exploring to: the Golden Layer Cake, a bakery where we tried their famous 7-layer cakes; 70 Farenheit Koffie, a coffee manufacturer where samples presented the difference between coffees made of either female or male beans; Batik Golden Gallery, where we fulfilled our shopping urges; Barelang Bridge, a spectacular multiple-mast suspension bridge; a sumptuous seafood lunch at Kopak Seafood restaurant on the bay, with a great view of the bridge; Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple and Monastery; Tua Pek Kong Temple; Muhammad Cheng Ho Mosque; the WELCOME TO BATAM sign, sImilar to our HOLLYWOOD sign on the USA; the very detailed Batam Miniature Park containing small versions of every ancient landmark in Egypt; return to Batam Ferry Terminal, where because of the unexpected one-hour time difference, we had an extra hour before our return to Singapore. We took advantage of that extra hour with impromptu shopping at the MEGA-MALL, atached to the ferry terminal. There were many architecturally varied mosques to see, typical for almost completely Muslim country. The ratio of Chinese cars to Japanese cars was about 10 to 1. The only negative note, and not a fault of the tour operator, was that Batam Island's roads were littered with trash everywhere. Singapore, on the other hand, is probably the cleanest city in the world We returned to Singapore on the Shindo high speed ferry after a very interesting tour, well-hosted trip by Amel.
We travelled from Muara Serasa Brunei to Labuan in early March 2025 . As others have said it is a big problem getting prior information for this route . You can book online in advance for the fast ferry in the Labuan to Brunei direction but not from Brunei , this can only be done at the Serasa Ferry teminal and the only timetable that can be obtained in advance is via WhatsApp number , this was on a notice at the terminal , it 00673-731 7588 (I have not tried this myself) . My ticket gives a Brunei number 00673-744 3544 so that may be worth trying to establish ferry times on the date you need . It seems they only publish the current timetable 2 weeks in advance . Our experience was this , we went from our Bandar Seri Begawan Al Afiah hotel by their shuttle and it cost 45BND , it is a good distance taking about 30 minutes and taxi is probably the best way of guaranteeing to get there . We arrived just before 12 noon , hoping there would be a ferry . We expected to get the Car Ferry which runs at 13.00 Mondays , Wednesdays and Fridays but found there was also a fast SRI LABUAN TIGA EXPRESS FERRY also leaving at 13.00 . We booked tickets at the office , we were told we must fill in an ONLINE Malaysian entry form which we did , the lady at the ticket office helped . She said this was very important as entry can be refused if this is not done . The ferry left on time with around 30 passengers , the ferry looked as though it seated around 90 people so no problem getting on . It took just over an hour , the ferry is fairly basic but ok , the journey took us past many Oil drilling installations , some platforms and some on ships ! The car ferry was in Seria waiting to depart as well . For our return journey a few days later we went to the ticket office at the Victoria Ferry Terminal and booked a day in advance where times are published so it is much easier . We returned to Brunei on the Suria which had been refurbished quite recently but again it is quite basic , both boats are a bit like sitting in an aircraft... I hope this is helpful as we found it very frustrating not being able get any prior information. We saw the slightly larger ferry that goes to Kota Kinabalu in Victoria Harbour .
Had a great time exploring Batam with our guide Hendry. He is very kind and knowledgeable with the culture and history of Batam. Highly recommended this tour
This was a wonderful experience - really optimized a brief visit to Indonesia. I got to see so many places, local culture, tours of local product production (coffee, layer cakes, batik), as well as a temple and mosque. Very thorough tour of Bantam, very interesting and varied. My tour guide, Mr. Johni, was wonderful and provided a great commentary. The ferry was easy to navigate, and I was met right outside of customs. 100% recommend. If time allows (for me it did) ask to go to a local spa for a massage, too.
